Summary of System IV - UV Epoxy Silicone –
Silmer EPC E9
1. All tested FAS are compatible with the
tested silicone epoxy resin.
2. Stain resistance in all cases studied increased as use level of FAS increased.
3. All FAS show improvements to mar resistance. This mar resistance is seen at low
use levels and barely improved or somewhat lost at higher use levels. This is consistent with our previous results.2
4. 60° Gloss is slightly reduced and no surface defects are seen. More FAS does lower gloss more.
5. Only FS 1 – with the highest CF2 content -
shows the dramatic lowering of COF that
one usually sees with silicone or fluoroalkyl additives.
