AT MODEX’S ENHANCED
CONFERENCE PROGRAM
mODEX 2012 attendees can choose from a variety of educational ses- sionscoveringthelatestmanufactur-ing and supply chain trends, technologies, and
innovations. The MODEX 2012 Educational
Conference will include three keynotes and over
70 supplier-led seminars covering a broad array
of material handling and logistics topics. These
sessions are offered free to all registered show

In addition, the Material Handling Industry of
America has teamed up with 19 educational partners, which will collocate educational events with
MODEX 2012 to provide one-of-a-kind insights
into the overall supply chain. Examples of these
association, government, and academic partners
include the Association for Automatic
Identification and Mobility (AIM), the Council of
Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP),
the Georgia Institute of Technology Supply Chain
& Logistics Institute, the Reusable Packaging
Association (RPA), the U.S. Commerce
Department’s International Trade Administration,
and the Warehousing Education and Research

Rick Blasgen, chief executive officer of the
Council of Supply Chain Management
Professionals, will deliver the opening keynote
address on Monday, Feb. 6, from 8:45 a.m. to 9:45
a.m. In his speech, he will discuss the importance
of supply chain management, the trends CSCMP
is seeing around the world, and how global supply chains drive change. Blasgen will also discuss
talent within the supply chain field and how to
deal with today’s economic challenges and com-
petitive pressures.
On Tuesday, Feb. 7, from 8:45 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.,
Alberto Alemán Zubieta, chief executive officer of
the Panama Canal Authority, will speak on the
expansion of the Panama Canal and its impact on
supply chains and global trade. Scheduled for
completion in 2014, the expansion is expected to
alter patterns of trade and provide incentives to
East and Gulf Coast ports to deepen harbors and
expand cargo-handling facilities. During this
keynote, Alemán Zubieta will detail how these
infrastructure improvements will benefit
importers and exporters.
Dr. H. Donald Ratliff, executive director of
Georgia Tech’s Supply Chain & Logistics Institute,
will speak about how supply chain and logistics
performance impacts international trade on
Wednesday, Feb. 8, from 8:45 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.
During this keynote, Ratliff will offer insights into
what elements of supply chain and logistics performance need improvement and how to make
improvements that will boost exports.
