Forklift conversion calculator: Douglas Battery, a manufacturer of batteries and chargers for material handling equipment,
is offering fleet managers an easy way to calculate projected
savings when converting from internal combustion (IC) forklifts
to electric forklifts, with its online IC-to-electric (IC2E) calculator.
Available at www.douglasbattery.com/calculator.aspx, the
IC2E calculator evaluates numerous factors, including fleet size,
truck capacity, number of shifts per day, cost of fuel, purchase/
lease terms, and maintenance costs. It then calculates a projected
return on investment and overall cost savings over five years.
For companies interested in converting from IC to electric,
Douglas Battery will develop battery and charger solutions to
maximize the fleet’s power and performance. (Douglas Battery,

Walkie pallet truck: Raymond Corp.’s new Model 8210
walkie pallet truck is well-suited for working in tight areas, such
as trailers or lift gates, according to the company.
The pallet truck comes equipped with Raymond’s “Click2Creep”
technology, which automatically reduces maximum travel speed
while also providing a tighter turning radius for “pinwheeling”
or right-angle turning. In addition, Raymond’s ACR System
technology and static torque control improve speed control and
transitions, especially at low speeds. The walkie pallet trucks also
have an easy-to-access electric brake release, which retains braking ability when engaged.
The trucks are designed for durability as well as ease of maintenance, according to the manufacturer. For example, they come
with Raymond’s “Lift and Go” technology, which prevents wear
to the underside of forks, and stainless steel undercarriage pins,
which prevent corrosion in wet applications. Both the frame
and undercarriage components are made from ductile iron, and
the removable ribbed bumper uses the same material found in
automotive truck frames. The truck is also engineered with fewer
components and maintenance points.
The Model 8210 pallet trucks are designed for extreme environments, according to Raymond. These walkie pallet trucks
come standard with IP65 protection of electronics, meeting the highest standard for
water and dust protection. The IP65 rating
ensures that the truck will perform reliably
in extremely wet conditions and during
pressure washing, says the company. The
vehicles also have new reflective
materials on logos, which
help with visibility in low-light applications. (The

High-performance stackers:
UniCarriers Americas Corp.’s (UCA)
newly released Platinum WSX walkie
straddle stacker and Platinum WCX
walkie counterbalance stacker are
built for high performance and easy
maintenance, with capacities of 3,000
and 4,000 pounds, and lift heights of
up to 18 feet.
The WSX is a versatile, hard-working straddle stacker that operates easily in tight aisles with heavy loads,
according to UCA. WSX models work efficiently in narrow-aisle
areas or in any application that demands a maneuverable
machine.
The WCX counterbalance stacker is built to handle heavy
loads and reach higher heights, to do the job of larger and more
expensive sit-down rider models, according to UCA.
Both machines have a 5.2-horsepower AC-drive motor and
controller system and a heavy-duty hydraulic pump motor. They
have a simple controller area network with communications passing through only four wires in the control handle.
Onboard diagnostics are provided through an optional multi-function LCD display and a “smart” electric brake, which engages when the handle is raised. (UniCarriers Americas Corp., www.

Narrow-aisle lift truck: Landoll Corp. has released a new
model of its Bendi narrow-aisle lift truck. The B40AC-HL is essentially a scaled-down version of the company’s B55AC-HL High Lift
model that is built on the smaller B40 chassis.
The Bendi B40AC is a four-wheel articulating forklift with dual
independently driven rear-drive tires and soft-poly front load
tires. It has excellent traction, braking, and power, which enables
it to climb steep ramps with loads. The B40AC can work inside
and outside on paved surfaces and has a floating front axle
that allows the truck to travel smoothly over uneven floors. The
B40AC does all of the jobs of a reach and counterbalanced truck
but in much narrower aisles, according to Landoll.
The lift truck has a fixed nontilting mast and a tilting/side shifting carriage. The rigid mast mount design prevents mast rocking
and sway when handling loads at high elevations, making these
operations easier and safer for drivers, according to Landoll.
The lift truck is available in eight mast sizes, ranging from 312
inches to 492 inches. Three- or four-stage masts are available,
making this unit suitable for loading and unloading trailers and
containers, according to Landoll.
The truck has a basic capacity of 4,000 pounds at a 24-inch
load center and can lift to heights of up to 30 feet. With a
48-inch-long by 40-inch-wide load, this truck can work in aisles
as narrow as 78 inches. (Landoll Corp., landoll.com/content/
