Cloud-based TMS for SMBs: C.H. Robinson has introduced
Freightview, a neutral cloud-based transportation management
system (TMS) software platform designed for small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs). The software helps to streamline freight
shipment quoting, booking, tracking, and reporting, according
to C.H. Robinson.
Freightview was created to provide a communication tool to
SMBs who remain underserved by the TMS software market
and use multiple less-than-truckload (LTL) transportation service
providers.
When shippers adopt Freightview as their TMS platform, they
maintain direct relationships with their LTL carriers while still
being able to compare shipment costs, transit times, and service
levels. The software eliminates the need to repeatedly log into
multiple LTL carrier websites and provides users with the data
they need to negotiate better rates, ensure accountability, and
uncover additional savings.
Freightview uses a patent-pending application program interface (API) workflow process to facilitate automated communication between a shipper and its service provider. Utilizing API eliminates the need to connect electronically with carriers through
electronic data interchange (EDI).
Freightview can integrate into a shipper’s website and sales
applications to provide shipping rates on Internet purchases or
incorporate freight quotes into sales bids. New Freightview users
can take advantage of a free 30-day trial period, followed by a
standard $99 per-location monthly fee. (C.H. Robinson, www.

Parcel intelligence platform: The VeriShip Intelligence Platform
(VIP) offers users access to parcel carriers’ invoice data and provides configurable dashboards and graphs to help them develop
a better understanding of their parcel costs.
According to VeriShip, a parcel audit and intelligence company,
VIP is a cloud-based parcel intelligence platform that continually
analyzes data, identifying key savings and visibility opportunities.
VIP puts parcel spend data in context, which helps users make
more informed decisions during parcel negotiations and find
parcel savings. VIP also provides clients with access to real-time
analytics such as cost per pound and average zone. (VeriShip,

Supply chain grading tool: Legacy Supply Chain Services, a
North American third-party logistics service provider, has created a “grader tool” designed to help retailers evaluate their
own supply chain performance and identify opportunities for
improvement.
The Supply Chain Performance Grader: Instant View allows
businesses to evaluate more than 25 aspects of their supply chain,
grouped within six supply chain disciplines—supply chain visibility, mapping and visualization, risk management, supply chain
design, business intelligence, and talent retention and workplace
culture development. The tool provides a supply chain report card
along with specific recommendations on how to improve supply
chain performance and increase efficiency. (Legacy Supply Chain
Services, legacyscs.com/supply-chain-grader/)
