PPG launches ECK anti-corrosion compound
PPG’s new ECK anti-corrosion compound
prevents all types of corrosion including
mag-chloride, cal-chloride, galvanic and
electrolysis; withstands temperatures up to
1,000°F; is safe for painted and unpainted
surfaces; can be used with rubber and plastic; and meets OSHA and ACGIH standards;
rated a low 1 for health on the MSDS.
PPG Commercial Coatings has introduced ECK (Electrolysis Corrosion
Kontrol), a patented compound
designed to prevent dissimilar metal
corrosion. ECK is intended for use in a
broad range of body building and manufacturing applications where dissimilar metals may come in contact. By
exclusive arrangement with Van Nay,
LLC, PPG becomes the sole U.S. distributor of the new ECK squeeze tube package. ECK inhibits electrolytic reactions,
contains sacrificial zinc, and is an effective moisture barrier. It has been extensively tested and has proven highly
effective in eliminating corrosion
between aluminum and stainless steel
fasteners, far outperforming traditional
silicone sealants and Mylar tape,
according to the company.
INDUSTRIAL NANOTECH
LAUNCHES CLEAR ROOF COATING
Industrial Nanotech, Inc., has launched
the first of three patented nanotechnol-ogy-based roof coatings for the commercial, industrial and residential roofing
markets. Nansulate Crystal is a clear
protective roof coating for sloped roofs
which provides thermal insulation, as
well as resistance to UV and mold and
mildew, while protecting and preserving the roof. The coating is used on clay
or concrete tile, slate or wood shingle
roofs, and asphalt shingle roofs to provide energy savings through reduction
of heat transfer through the roof.
NEW POLYESTER PROVIDES
FLEXIBILITY WITH A TOUGH EXTERIOR
Valspar has introduced Granite, a polyester coating developed for prepainted
metal products that require superior
flexibility, scratch and stain resistance
as well as advanced adhesion performance when exposed to moist environments. These new polyester coatings
are ideal for many coated coil applications including garage doors, truck
trailer, rainware and certain building
panel applications. Granite coatings are
available in a wide spectrum of colors
with low, medium or high gloss.
The Granite coating was designed to
be used as a single coat application over
aluminum. Lab and field tests prove
this coating can achieve a 0T bend
which allows for more design options.
Scratch resistance tests show pencil
hardness results up to 4H compared to
the industry standard of F-2H. HDG
steel, CRS, and Galvalume substrates
can be coated with Granite coatings. A
primer should be used over steel.
TNEMEC INTRODUCES
ADVANCED GENERATION EPOXY
A fast cure modified polyamine epoxy
lining for concrete and steel in water
storage and treatment markets has
been launched by Tnemec. Series FC22
Epoxoline is a 100% solids, thick film
epoxy that has the advantage of rapidly curing at 75°F for return to service
within 24 hours. With the ability to
cure down to ambient temperatures as
low as 35°F, Series FC22 Epoxoline
enables work on projects to continue
under varying weather and seasonal
conditions. And compared with
polyurethane and polyurea coatings,
Series FC22 Epoxoline is more tolerant
and user-friendly when it comes to
environmental conditions during application, according to the company.
Series FC22 Epoxoline has been used
successfully on several steel and concrete tanks, reservoirs and pipes in
potable water service including a
500,000-gallon galvanized potable
water tank in Missouri City, TX; a
500,000-gallon ground storage tank in
Owego, NY; and a water treatment
plant project in Phoenix, AZ.
