The PPG Pittsburgh Paints brand has
launched the Atlantic Colour Collection,
a new palette of 42 colors representing
the significant coastal shades of Canada’s
Atlantic region. Inspired by the atmosphere of the true east coast warmth and
relaxed mood, the palette combines local
marine-inspired shades for both interior
and exterior home color combinations.
According to the company, the
Atlantic Colour Collection brings to life
the natural essence of the region including colors influenced by the deep green
foliage of the forests, mystical blues of the
sky and waves, warm tones of the sand
dunes and tranquil grays of the seashells
and ocean mist. With shades such as “Bay
of Fundy” and “Foggy Beach,” the palette
embraces the influences of the water and
natural landscapes while capturing a soft
light that accompanies the area’s long
winters and moody waters.
The palette illustrates the area’s
most recognizable hues; the influence
of the local lifestyle is also reflected.
Developed by local PPG architectural
coatings representatives and color experts, the Atlantic Colour Collection is
part of The Voice of Colour program
of the PPG Pittsburgh Paints brand.
The collection is available exclusively
at Kent locations in any of the PPG
Pittsburgh Paints paint lines.
Sherwin-Williams Offers
Glass Flake Epoxy Systems
Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine
Coatings has pioneered the use of a new
glass flake epoxy-based paint technology
in the bridges and highways industry,
according to the firm. Originally developed to protect offshore structures from
the severe marine environment in North
Sea oil and gas applications, the system
eliminates the requirements for ongoing
maintenance to significantly reduce environmental impact, save on repair costs
and extend asset life, offering up to 25
years’ protection.
The three coat preventative maintenance coating system provides excellent
adhesion and anti-corrosion properties
and acts as a powerful barrier against
harsh weather conditions. The technology—first used to complete the painting
of the Forth Rail Bridge in 2011—has
put glass flake epoxy based systems at
the forefront of bridge painting. Sherwin-Williams’ glass flake epoxy coatings now
feature of a number of other large bridge
and highway projects, including 47 bridges across the M6 toll road, the Tay Rail
Bridge and the Royal Albert Bridge.
Using glass flake technology to pro-
vide a thicker dry film in a single coat, the
coatings system can be modified to meet
the requirements of the customer in terms
of cost effectiveness, application and fin-
ish. The selected paints typically consist
of a higher build blast primer, an epoxy
glass flake build coat and an acrylic ure-
thane finish, as well as a stripe coat of ep-
oxy glass flake.
