Many countries, many modes: Transite Technology, a provider of logistics and shipping cost-management software and services, has enhanced its Contract Manager product to support international parcel shipping. The Contract Manager International Parcel Module provides the ability to return rates to over 140 countries at all major service levels while maintaining discounts by both service level and individual country.

Transite’s My Freight Portal, Contract Manager, and additional products and services help companies obtain the least-cost methods and carriers for every customer order while increasing a company’s ability to manage its shipping logistics through visibility of the entire shipping process.

Transite is dedicated to expanding its market footprint as the world economy puts pressure on shippers to minimize costs. Operational lift: Caljan Rite-Hite US, a manufacturer of advanced material handling solutions for loading and unloading loose loaded cargo, has joined with Vaculex, a manufacturer of lifting aids based on vacuum technology, to introduce the Vaculex ParceLift vacuum lift system. The Vaculex ParceLift system is designed specifically as an option for use with the Caljan Rite-Hite line of telescopic belt conveyors.

Utilizing vacuum lift technology, the Vaculex ParceLift grips and lifts packages to the correct ergonomic height in one efficient movement. High productivity is maintained without the risk of repetitive strain injuries. The system features a light, carbon fiber articulating arm that provides ease of product movement for distribution centers, mail order houses, and parcel industry and other applications.

The Vaculex ParceLift easily travels into trailers to assist with loading and unloading, and is suitable for use in confined spaces or areas with low headroom. The system lifts up to 88 pounds and can be operated with either left- or right-handed controls. To enhance safety, the system uses technology to ensure there is no risk in dropping the parcel. Datalogic’s Green Spot aiming technology and provides fast reading and decoding performance.

Capable of reading all standard 1D bar codes as well as the maturing GS1 DataBar stacked codes, the Gryphon Imager is a solution suited to demanding general-purpose scanning applications. It can

improve productivity in a variety of scanning environments, including warehousing, logistics, manufacturing, and retail point-of-sale applications.

The Gryphon Imager’s ergonomic design reduces operator fatigue while providing user comfort. With Datalogic’s Green Spot, the Gryphon Imager offers intuitive aiming and good-read feedback even under dim lighting conditions and noisy environments.

Newly optimized decoding software speeds scanning performance on hard-to-read, poorly printed, and even damaged bar codes. The units are able to read undamaged labels within 40 milliseconds. With an extended depth of field, the Gryphon Imager reads bar codes from contact to over one meter away and most codes from extreme angles.

The Gryphon Imager also reads codes smaller than 3 mils, making it suited for small high-density labels used on parts and assemblies in light industrial, manufacturing, and textile environments.
