has hired George Weise as executive vice president. Weise,
who will lead STTAS’s Government Services Practice, previously served as commissioner of the U.S. Customs Service
and as staff director for the House Ways and Means
Committee’s Subcommittee on Trade.
; The Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) has hired
Jason Brewer as vice president of communications and
advocacy. As part of RILA’s communications team, Brewer
will promote RILA’s activities with external audiences. Most
recently, Brewer served as the senior media manager for the
National Federation of Independent Business.
; Eleets Transportation Co. Inc. has named Thomas
Shurstad president. Shurstad brings 30 years of domestic
and international transportation experience to his new
position. Most recently, he served as president of Railex, a
refrigerated boxcar service provider.
; Stanley Vidmar, a manufacturer of custom
storage solutions, has promoted Michael
Fiorito to product line manager. In his new
position, Fiorito will assist in increasing sales
through new product development, new
commercialization of existing product, and
the execution of a worldwide product plan.

; System Logistics Corp. has announced an addition to its
recently established Supply Chain Solutions Group. Thomas
Berger joins the group as vice president, supply chain sales.
; Jason Minghini has been promoted to director of operations at Kenco Logistic Services. In his new position,
Minghini will be responsible for the overall operations of
specific key KLS customers.
; The Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals
(CSCMP) has selected Dr. Stanley E. Fawcett and Dr. Matthew
A. Waller as co-editors of its award-winning Journal of Business
Logistics. Their terms officially begin on Jan. 1, 2011, and run
until Dec. 31, 2015. Dr. Fawcett is a professor of global supply
chain management at Brigham Young University’s Marriott
School of Management. Dr. Waller is the Garrison Endowed
Chair in Supply Chain Management at the Sam M. Walton
College of Business at the University of Arkansas.
; Terry Shaw has been hired as account manager at
Conveyco Technologies. Shaw brings 17 years of expertise
in sortation systems, AS/RS technology (unit-load cranes
and mini-loads), carousels, and A-frames.
; Ocean carrier APL has named Gene
Seroka president in the Americas. In his
new position, he will be responsible for all
of the shipping, intermodal transportation,
and terminal activities of APL, the world’s
fourth-largest container shipping line.
Seroka, a 21-year veteran of the company,
most recently served as regional vice president for the Middle East.

; TBB Global Logistics has promoted Patrick Nelson to
vice president of domestic operations. In his new position,
Nelson will be responsible for guiding and managing TBB’s
Domestic Supply Chain Guardian (DSCG) unit as well as
the Smokin’ Stampede truckload division. Nelson previously served as the company’s director of truckload operations.
; Plug Power Inc. has hired Reid Hislop as its new vice
president of marketing communications and investor relations. Hislop brings over 20 years of technology marketing
experience to his new position. He replaces Katrina Fritz
Intwala, who has been promoted to vice president of business development and government relations.
; DSW Distribution Centers, a Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.-based third-party logistics service provider, has announced
three promotions. Liz Penrose has been promoted to vice
president of administration, Janice Bowman is now vice
president of operations, and Bernice Montoya has been
promoted to customer service supervisor.
; Fortna has announced that Christian Andres and
Yehimy Guerra will lead the expansion of the company’s
supply chain services to the Andean Region, including
Venezuela, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, and
Panama. Andres and Guerra bring over 23 years of supply
chain industry experience in this region to Fortna clients.
; Bill Pugh, president of Ralphs-Pugh Co. Inc. of Benicia,
Calif., has been elected president of the Conveyor
Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA). Founded
in 1933, CEMA currently has 100 member companies.
; The board of directors at Ports America Group has named
Michael Hassing president and chief executive officer. Since
2008, Hassing has served as CEO of Scandlines GmbH.
; Performance Team has announced two new additions
to its staff. David Casey has been hired as the director of
business development, and John Hurst has been named
vice president of contract logistics.
