View Software to market LXE’s rugged vehicle-mounted,
hand-held, and wearable mobile computers.
; Stylish solutions. Apparel retailer Abercrombie & Fitch
has implemented Management Dynamics’ Supply Chain
Visibility solution to obtain real-time visibility into the status of orders and shipments. The global multimode solution will help the retailer streamline its supply chain
processes from vendor to distribution center.
; Reel it in. Hungry Fish Media has selected Kenco Logistic
Services LLC as the U.S. e-commerce fulfillment partner for its
Force Factor nutritional supplements. Kenco will be responsible for filling orders placed via the Force Factor website.
; Best of both. Savi and Odin, two providers of radio-frequency identification (RFID) solutions, will team up to offer a
comprehensive software platform leveraging both passive
and active RFID technologies. The fully integrated solution will
improve real-time tracking and management capabilities.
; A healthy relationship. Good Health Natural Products Inc.
has chosen third-party logistics specialist Kane Is Able Inc. to
provide warehousing and transportation services in support
of its U.S. distribution efforts. Kane will distribute Good
Health’s snack foods from its Scranton, Pa., warehouse.
; Laser tag. Dematic has partnered with Kollmorgen, a
manufacturer of driverless control technology, to provide a
new order fulfillment solution called LaserTrucks+. Dematic
will use Kollmorgen Pick-n-Go laser-guidance and vehicle
control systems as a core component of the new order fulfillment solution.
; Getting a lift. Big Lift LLC and E-P
Equipment USA have entered into a
strategic partnership for the distribution of
Big Joe brand forklifts throughout North
America. The two companies will consolidate sales and marketing efforts, align dealer networks, and
launch a new line of equipment.
; Doubling up. Softeon and the Numina Group have partnered to supply a fully integrated supply chain execution,
warehouse management, and warehouse control system.
The joint technology is targeted to distribution applications
that involve “each” picking and mixed-SKU item/case/pal-let picking and shipping.
; Mapping the route. HighJump Software has announced
that Shearer’s Foods Inc. has improved its operations by
implementing HighJump Route Administrator and
HighJump Route Assistant. The company is using the
HighJump route accounting and mobile sales solutions to
support 100 direct store delivery routes across Ohio and
Pennsylvania.
; Automatic. Four Soft (4S), a company that offers Web-based software solutions for logistics and transportation,
has announced that Peckover Transport has selected the 4S
eLog WMS to automate its warehousing operation in
Bradford, United Kingdom.
; Fleet management. Predestination Transportation, a
subsidiary of Wood Fruitticher Food Service of Birmingham,
Ala., has chosen Xata Corp.’s Xatanet fleet management
solution to monitor its 100-vehicle truck fleet.
Predestination will use Xatanet to increase fleet visibility,
safety, and efficiency.
; Head in McLeod. McLeod Software has joined Descartes
Systems’ United by Design program to offer broader services to its truck carrier brokerage and shipper community in
North America. The move will allow McLeod to offer additional solutions to its customers to reduce costs and
improve operational efficiency.
; Government affairs. Psion Teklogix, a developer of
mobile computing solutions, has announced that the
Department of Defense (DOD) has ordered more than
1,600 of the company’s ruggedized mobile computers. The
acquisition will bring the total number of Psion Teklogix
devices being used by the DOD worldwide to 8,000.
; Genco plugs in. Genco has purchased 25 GenDrive
hydrogen fuel cell power units from Plug Power Inc. for use
in lift trucks. The GenDrive units will power the lift trucks at
a 450,000-square-foot distribution center in Graniteville,
S.C., that Genco operates for Kimberly-Clark Corp.
; Fashion forward. Gerry Weber International, a European
fashion and lifestyle company, has chosen Nordic ID as its
supplier of hand-held RFID devices. The Nordic ID Cross
Dipole UHF hand-helds will be used primarily in goods
receiving and inventory management in 150 stores.
; Saddling up. Saddle Creek Corp. has opened a West
Coast distribution center for Riviana Foods Inc. and New
World Pasta Co. in Ontario, Calif. Saddle Creek will provide
both warehousing and transportation services at the facility.
