Air force: TMI, a supplier of PVC strip, film, and
sheet products, introduces the Save-T Air Curtain.
Providing a stream of air that covers a door opening,
the Save-T Air Curtain improves work flow and productivity, while helping companies save on energy
costs. The curtain also provides better control of
workplace environments by creating an aerodynamic barrier that prevents air, insects, dirt, dust, and
fumes from entering work areas. Conditioned air
stays in the building, while outside air, flying pests,
and other unwanted elements are kept at bay.
TMI’s new air curtains feature an air compression chamber that makes use of the
Coanda effect principle to collect air as it leaves the blowers and compress it into a
concentrated stream that effectively covers the entire door opening. This airstream
helps reduce unwanted air infiltration while enabling doorways to be left open so
that people, equipment, and inventory can pass freely through them. Save-T Air
Curtains typically pay for themselves in a matter of months through the energy savings they produce, the manufacturer says.
Made of stainless steel, the curtains are both corrosion-resistant and highly
durable. They can be used in a variety of applications, including overhead doors,
dock doors, cooler doors, and freezer doors. Depending on the application, Save-T
Air Curtains can either be mounted overhead horizontally or recessed into the ceiling. If space is limited, they can be mounted vertically at the door’s side.
Save-T Air Curtains are available for doors from 30 inches to 30 feet wide and up
to 22 feet high. Options include internal heating components to accommodate colder environments. (TMI Companies, www.tmi-pvc.com)
Give a Yale: Yale Materials Handling Corp. has
introduced the GC050LX cushion-tire and
GP050LX pneumatic-tire internal combustion lift
trucks. Both models provide a balance of efficiency, productivity, dependability, and durability
for a wide variety of moderate-duty materials
handling applications. From their high-quality
hydraulic and electrical system components to
their durable transmissions, the GC/GP050LX
models provide users with a simple, cost-effective lift truck, the manufacturer says.
These streamlined trucks feature excellent fuel
economy and carefully considered ergonomics
designed for operator comfort, according to Yale.
Both the GC050LX and the GP050LX are agile
and maneuverable. With an electronically controlled Powershift transmission for smooth direction changes, moving around in tight spaces is
easy. The optional integral side shifter allows
loads to be optimally positioned, and the responsive, electronically controlled inching adjustments
give operators better control of their load positioning. The human-friendly design makes operator comfort and adjustability a top priority and
includes extra foot space, an adjustable tilting
steer column, and increased visibility. (Yale

Quick scans: Denso ADC announces the latest
addition to its BHT-700 series of wireless handheld
bar-code terminals. The new BHT-710BWB-WM 1-
D bar-code scanner terminal is a robust mobile
computer that features the Windows Mobile 6. 1
operating system. Its smart-device capabilities
allow the unit to be used in a wide variety of
mobile applications, such as field operations, transportation and logistics, retail, and manufacturing.
The new terminal also features a fast, 624
MHz processor and 128 MB of RAM, which
speeds up work, as well as both Bluetooth and
high-security WLAN (802.11a/b/g) wireless coverage. It provides up to 12 hours of continuous
wireless communication from a single battery.
The terminal’s advanced image-scanning software ensures reliable reading of high-density or
poorly printed bar codes, while its large depth of
field and rapid-response scanning capabilities
improve operator accuracy. A drop-resistant
magnesium-alloy frame, which has been tested
to survive a five-foot drop, gives the device a
high degree of durability.
Other user-friendly features include a 3.5-inch
QVGA color LCD touch screen and high-speed
display graphics that make it easy to view large
amounts of information, increasing user efficiency; a slim, lightweight design, to reduce operator
fatigue; convenient one-hand scanning operation; and VoIP voice control, which supports voice
picking. (Denso ADC, www.denso-adc.com)
