NA 2010:
Tools, training, and more
The show’s sponsor, the Material Handling Industry of
America, expects more than 400 material handling and
logistics solution providers will showcase their products and
services at the show, which runs from April 26–29. The
event also features an educational component, including
seminars and a new “Supply Chain Summit” event.
Among the highlights of the educational conference will
be the Keynote Seminar Series, held on Monday and
Tuesday from 10:30–11: 15 a.m. Titled “The Future Track,”
the series includes sessions on sustainability, training and
education, retail distribution, and workforce development.
Monday’s lineup includes “The Business Case for
Sustainable Distribution Centers,” presented by Carol
Tienken, COO of the Greater Boston Food Bank, and John
Ling, Crate and Barrel’s vice president, supply chain management and logistics; and “How Industry Is Changing
Material Handling Training and Education,” presented by
Don Gillman, director, Applied Technology Center in Rock
Hill, S.C.; Clyde Hornberger, Ph.D., executive director,
Lehigh Career and Technical Institute; and Jeff Smith,
Ph.D., professor, Auburn University. Tuesday’s sessions
include “Leading Trends in Retail Distribution,” presented
by Dan Whitnable, engineering manager at Lands’ End;
and “Building the Workforce of Tomorrow,” presented by
Dan Boos, president and managing principal, Gorillas &
Gazelles LLC.

For four days in April, much of the material handling industry will be gathered at the 2010 North American Material Handling
and Logistics Show (NA 2010) at Cleveland’s I-X
Center.

The organizers of NA 2010 have made it easy to

Show hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday,
Tuesday, and Wednesday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
on Thursday.
Wednesday brings a first-time event for the show: The
NA 2010 Supply Chain Summit. Scheduled from 1 to 5
p.m., the summit brings together four distinct views of the
supply chain—perspectives from industry, the military,
universities, and government. Larry Lapide, research affiliate, MIT Center for Transportation and Logistics, will
lead off with keynote remarks at 1 p.m., followed by presentations on the Department of Defense supply chain,
what workplaces of excellence will look like in the years
ahead, and a roundtable discussion among four leaders in
manufacturing, distribution, and intermodal logistics on
emerging best practices.
