Label printer: Tharo Systems Inc.’s new H-Series
Label Printers are designed to work without a
computer. Once label formats are downloaded
from a computer onto the thermal/thermal-trans-fer label printer, it can be remotely operated.
Users can also perform many software functions
using a keyboard with no computer attached.
First, the user downloads label formats, graphics, and databases to the printer’s flash memory
(or a CompactFlash Card). Then, the user can disconnect the printer from the PC, plug in a standard PC keyboard, and take the printer to another location. Using the keyboard, the user can enter data, specify the number of
labels to print, and merge database information into the proper format.
The printer is suitable for companies concerned about the additional cost of a
computer. It can also be used in harsh environments that are not suitable for computers. (Tharo Systems, www.tharo.com/h400.php)
Inventory management software: Kardex
Remstar has introduced a new feature to its
FastPic5 inventory management software that
help organizations segment inventory. The
client management feature allows businesses
to segment inventory by functional area or by
client ownership. This organization tool allows
for enhanced security and visibility.
This new feature also allows companies to
assign each user to a specific category of inventory. This is particularly helpful for organizations
that handle inventory for multiple clients.
Inventory can also be segmented by functional
area. For example, organizations can limit the
maintenance personnel’s access to only the
maintenance department’s inventory and production personnel’s access to production’s inventory. (Kardex Remstar, www.kardexremstar)

Bar-code scanner: Datalogic ADC says its new
Gryphon GFS4400 bar-code scanner offers high
performance in a compact, hands-free package. The scan module’s design makes it good
for use in tight spaces.
The two-dimensional (2D) scanner’s motion
tolerance allows it to process bar codes fast in an
automated application. Datalogic says the scan
module has great depth of field, which makes
reading easy in hands-free or swipe modes. The
Gryphon GFS4400’s small size and near-field
reading make it suitable for semi-automatic
equipment that requires confined spaces.
The Gryphon GFS4400 scan module can read
bar codes on any type of display, from a mobile
phone to a PC. It can read high-resolution linear and stacked codes as well as 2D bar codes
and is able to process most poor quality and
damaged bar codes.
Datalogic has made the Gryphon easy to aim
by incorporating its aimer, four dots, central
cross, and Green Spot technology
The Gryphon GFS4400 scan module features
a simple mounting system and includes a
bracket for aiming adjustments on two axes.
The module is made out of high-impact
resin, which can withstand repeated cleanings
with solvents and disinfectant solutions.
