WMS for the mid-market: International
Business Systems (IBS), a developer of enterprise resource planning (ERP) and supply chain
solutions, has launched a version of its
Dynaman warehouse management system
(WMS) designed solely for the mid-market.
IBS designed Dynaman to provide advanced
WMS and manufacturing execution system
(MES) features while also making it user-friendly, adaptable, and flexible.
IBS Dynaman’s flexible rules-based engine
controls the movement and storage of materials within a warehouse and processes the associated transactions, including shipping, receiving, putaway, picking, wave management,
dock-to-stock and stock-to-dock cycle counting, reporting, and analytics. It also directs and
optimizes stock putaway based on real-time
information about the status of bin utilization.
IBS Dynaman provides the depth and
breadth of functionality required to support
third-party logistics (3PL) business models—
from managing multiple inventory owners
across multiple warehouses to managing and
supporting customer-specific handling requests
across diverse and complex logistics networks.
Because IBS Dynaman has an open architecture, it can easily integrate/interface with
ERP and material handling solutions. It is engineered to provide strict process control, data
accuracy, and complete visibility. IBS Dynaman
can be deployed on-premise or in the cloud.

Expedited temp-controlled transport: Americold, a provider of temperature-controlled warehousing and logistics services to the food industry, is introducing
Xpedite, a 24/7 service providing coordination and expedited delivery of less-than-truckload (LTL) and full truckload shipments.
The Xpedite service utilizes all modes of transportation to help shippers locate
truck capacity for routine and urgent deliveries.
The Americold network supports dry and temperature-controlled products while
also providing an on-demand solution for shippers with urgent deliveries, according
to the company. (Americold, www.Americold.com) ;
Vertical carousel: The Megamat RS Vertical
Carousel from Kardex Remstar is now available with dual access. The carousel can now
be accessed at two or more points in one unit,
meaning that warehouse associates can
access the same stored materials from multiple points in the facility.
With the Megamat RS Vertical Carousel,
all materials can be consolidated into one
system and then accessed through multiple pick windows. This layout reduces
the amount of time spent transporting and searching for material. For
example, if a carousel has an access
window on the first level and the fifth
level, then multiple floors, departments, or work zones could access the
same material without having to
travel from floor to floor.
The carousel could also be designed to
have multiple access openings on the same
level. For example, a window on the front of
the unit could be used for picking, while a
separate window on the back of the unit
could be used for replenishment. (Kardex
