Warehouse productivity fell by 7. 6 percent last year, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. While that might sound alarming, that bare statistic leaves crucial information out of the story, says Ryan Birtwell, COO for mobile solutions specialist Lucas Systems. “In fact, the apparent decline in productivity is a function of the increasing share of e-commerce orders flowing out of warehouses and DCs, rather than a true reflection of labor productivity rates,” Birtwell says.
