Maintenance management system: Dematic
Maintenance Management Software (DMMS)
provides a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) designed to support
the entire lifecycle of a distribution center. The
software supports a range of capabilities, from
asset management to inventory control, and
can be deployed either as a standalone product
or integrated with Dematic’s warehouse system
software. It can be installed within the customer’s own network or hosted on a secure server
in Dematic’s data center.
DMMS can be used to manage a DC’s
maintenance schedule, automate maintenance
processes, and identify and address problem
areas. The solution combines asset management, preventive maintenance, and work-or-der management and reporting. DMMS also
provides simplified dispatching and reporting.

Hybrid palletizer: Intelligrated, a North
America-based provider of automated material
handling solutions, has released two new additions to its hybrid palletizer family, the Alvey
950F and Alvey 750
series. Both palletizers
use robotic arms to
handle product and
form layers.
Suitable for applications with reduced
primary or secondary
packaging, the 950F and 750 series units
gently handle product to create stable, single
stock-keeping unit (SKU) or mixed-SKU pallet
loads. The palletizers can also handle retail-ready requirements, including labels-out configurations for end-of-aisle displays.
The floor-level model of Intelligrated’s Alvey
950 series palletizer, the 950F, operates much
like the standard model with the benefit of
a floor-level infeed. This enables the 950F to
connect with higher-speed production lines,
eliminating the need for long overhead conveyor runs.
The first mid-speed hybrid palletizer on the
market, the Alvey 750 handles small products, making it ideal for consumer packaged
goods, health and beauty aids, and converted
paper applications. The 750 delivers throughput speeds of up to 50 cases per minute and
features an optional in-hoist stretch bander or

LED light fixture: Industrial fan manufacturer Big Ass Fans
says its new Big Ass High Bay LED fixture can withstand the dust and other environmental conditions
found in industrial and commercial spaces. This is
Big Ass Fans’ first offering from the company’s newly
formed Big Ass Light division.
According to Big Ass Fans, traditional industrial and
commercial LED fixtures are made of thin stamped sheets
of metal; the Big Ass High Bay LED fixture, by contrast,
is made from a solid piece of anodized extruded aluminum. To prove the strength of the new fixture, the staff
at the company’s research and development laboratory in Lexington, Ky., drove
a Ford F-250 pickup truck over it. The fixture supported the weight of the truck

The fixture has ribbed fins at the top, which increase surface area and allow
the entire structure to serve as a heat sink, moving heat away from the LEDs. This
is important, as too much heat can reduce the lifespan of an LED. Because of its
ability to dissipate heat, the fixture comes with a seven-year warranty for all parts,
including power supplies.
The Big Ass High Bay LED is designed with an easy-access panel that allows users
to swap out drivers and other components. It is projected to maintain 70 percent
of its initial light output for up to 150,000 hours and to have an efficiency rating of
