Dock door: The Spiral Door from Rytec Corp.
has an anodized aluminum finish, a roll-up
design, and an opening speed of 60 inches
per second. This high opening speed helps
to eliminate vehicle idle time at the doorway,
while at the same time protecting the building from adverse weather and intruders.
Because the door operates at high speeds,
it limits the air exchange between the inside
of the distribution center and the outside. As
a result, less energy is required to maintain
building temperature. Additionally, the door’s
aluminum slats have
a durable rubber
membrane covering their connecting
hinges, which helps
to keep in warm/
cool air. This tight
seal stops not only
drafts and inclement weather but also dust pollution. This
same design also provides an effective barrier
against unauthorized personnel.
The door has a tight profile, taking up little
room at the sides and along the header. The
roll-up door design features no metal-to-met-al contact; as a result, it operates very quietly.
In addition, the Spiral Door’s System 4 door
controller features an intelligent processor
and variable frequency drive, which create
smooth motion, soft starting, and soft stopping. (Rytec Corp., rytecdoors.com)
Pallet, sleeve, and top-cap system: Orbis
Corp., a manufacturer of reusable packaging,
has introduced a 1,200 mm ( 3. 9 foot) by
1,000 mm ( 3. 3 foot) pallet, sleeve, and top-cap system. The 1200 x 1000 CS CISC OPTE
Bulk provides a bulk packaging solution for
storing, handling, and shipping food, beverages, consumer goods, and pharmaceutical
products.
The Orbis 1200 x 1000 CS CISC OPTE Bulk
features a proprietary “active latch” that
allows workers to engage and release the
sleeve from the pallet from a standing position. When collapsed, the sleeve nests within
the pallet and top cap, and is fully self-contained for efficient return transportation. As
a result, users can fit 50 percent more of the
collapsed systems in a standard 53-foot trailer
than they could with alternative bulk packaging systems.
The pallet, which is compatible with many
palletizers, depalletizers, automatic strapping/
banding systems, and conveyors, is molded
from high-density polypropylene plastic and
is fully recyclable at the end of its service life.
