Express delivery firm DHL Express has expanded its trans-Pacific and intra-Asian air express service with direct flights
linking Japan with its Americas air hub in Cincinnati. The
company also doubled weekly flight frequencies between
Japan and Australia.
Plantation, Fla.-based DHL Express, a unit of the German
mail, transportation, and logistics company Deutsche Post
DHL, launched daily service from Nagoya, Japan, to Cincinnati,
providing next-day deliveries to the United States from all
Japanese locations it serves. On the westbound leg, flights will
operate from Cincinnati to Tokyo, providing two-day deliveries
for exporters in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Latin America.
Both routes are served with Boeing 747-400 freighters.
DHL also increased the number of flights between Japan and
Australia from two to four. In addition, it will launch daily
freighter service linking Taipei, Taiwan; Incheon, South Korea;
and Nagoya. That flight will connect to the Nagoya-Cincinnati
service, providing additional freighter capacity for customers
shipping to the U.S. from those Asian points, DHL Express said.
DHL Express serves the U.S. via international services. It
withdrew from the domestic U.S. market in January 2009. ;

Nissan Forklift Corp., TCM America
merge to form UniCarriers
Lift truck manufacturers Nissan Forklift Corp., North America
and TCM America have merged under a new name, UniCarriers
Americas Corp. The combined entity creates the world’s sev-enth-largest lift truck manufacturer with more than 235
authorized dealers in North, Central, and South America.
UniCarriers Americas is a division of Tokyo-based
UniCarriers Corp. The new company will focus solely on forklifts; previously, Nissan and TCM operated as business units
within Japanese giants Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. and Hitachi
Construction Machinery Co. Ltd., respectively.
UniCarriers will encompass five brands of lift truck: Nissan
Forklift, TCM, Atlet, Barrett, and UniCarriers. All trucks will
display a “by UniCarriers” endorsement starting June 1.
Corporate head offices will be in Marengo, Ill. There will be
no change in employees or the existing dealer network, the
company said in an announcement. UniCarriers said it plans to
expand its product portfolio by adding sustainable and efficient products and solutions.
“We are excited to combine the resources, service, and
strong brand promise of these two companies to form a
stronger market presence that will offer a broader range of
products and technical service with the UniCarriers brand,”
said Peter Kruse, president. ;
