Data-sharing solution: Globe Tracker
International (GTI) has created a global tracking, monitoring, and trade-data sharing solution. The solution brings together three of the
company’s products: its Globe Tracker
Communications Unit, Smart Autonomous
Asset Network, and Trade Data Exchange
Network.
The Globe Tracker Communications Unit
(Comm Unit) is a tracking device that is permanently installed on an asset such as a truck
trailer, dry bulk or reefer cargo container, or
railway car. The Comm Unit tracks and monitors the asset for its entire life. It securely
reports the asset’s global position along with
data from any installed GTI wireless peripheral devices to the asset owner’s private database, from anywhere in world.
Once the data are in the asset owner’s private database, the owner can then use GTI’s
Smart Autonomous Asset Network (SAAN) to
conduct various business analytics, such as
mapping the asset’s position over time as well
as its load status, contract status, temperature
profile, and door open/closed status. This
SAAN information is seamlessly provided to
whatever legacy business software applications the asset owner already uses. This information can be used to improve asset utilization and provide real-time data to supply
chain partners through GTI’s Trade Data
Exchange Network (TDEN).
TDEN allows supply chain partners to
securely and selectively share supply chain
data from their own private databases,
behind their own security firewalls. The network performs this task without requiring
that a company give up control of its private
data. Using a secure Web portal, a company
partner can gather all of the information
about a particular shipment from all of its
supply chain partners, for example. The network normalizes all of the disparate data from
the various partners and presents it to the
searcher in a readable format. (Globe Tracker

Cloud-based voice solution: Voxware, a
provider of voice solutions, has updated its
Cloud Voice Management Suite (VMS) for the
enterprise. Cloud Enterprise VMS enables
organizations of all sizes to migrate to a
cloud-based voice management system. In
addition, Voxware has now folded its complete VMS into the cloud-based version.
Voxware says the cloud-based approach
can be up and running more quickly than the
fastest full-fledged voice solution. It is available as a software-as-a-service (SaaS) offering. (Voxware, www.voxware.com)
Pallet rack protection: Wireway Husky Corp. has released a new wire product,
Aisle Shield. Aisle Shield provides fall protection for pallet rack aisles.
The device is made out of all-steel, welded wire. Unlike netting, which acts to
catch falling product and is difficult to install, Aisle Shield prevents the product from
falling in the first place, thus yielding a safer work environment and more efficient
material handling, according to the manufacturer.
Aisle Shield, which can be installed with engineered eyebolts, meets the demands
of regulatory agencies for fall protection into pallet rack aisles. (Wireway Husky,

Ironclad® exclusive square tube technology exposes 22% to 67% more positive round or flat plate designs. The result is higher sustained voltages – and higher work capacity – throughout the discharge cycle. Better electrolyte circulation produces higher voltages, more power.
