by a lever on the right-hand side of the steering
column.
Each model’s battery compartment is
equipped with a side removal assembly, making
battery replacement quick and convenient. All
three models are also equipped with an
advanced LCD monitor with a 3.2-inch graphic
smart display, allowing the operator to see his
or her speed and accelerator level, steer angle,
travel direction, battery discharge indicator,
hour meter, working mode, and brake oil reservoir. (Hyundai Forklift, www.hceamericas.com)
Supply chain software: International
Business Systems (IBS) has released IBS
Business Suite 2014, an integrated and synchronized set of software solutions designed
specifically to help mid-tier distribution-inten-sive companies improve their end-to-end supply chain operations.
Each component of IBS Business Suite 2014
was originally developed as a stand-alone solution for a specific aspect of the supply chain,
such as sales & operations planning (S&OP),
warehouse management (WM), and enterprise
resource planning (ERP). Those individual components have now been integrated into a suite
that provides a single view of all distribution
operations. The full suite includes IBS
Enterprise, IBS Dynaman, IBS Bookmaster, and
IBS Sales & Operations Planning. (International

Narrow-aisle forklift: With the release of the 10/13/15BTR- 9
series 24-volt electric counterbalanced forklifts, Hyundai Forklift
has expanded its line of narrow-aisle forklifts to 18 models.
These forklifts are suitable for applications requiring a tight turning radius, such as distribution centers, loading docks, and cold
storage.
According to Hyundai, its 10/13/15BTR- 9 series
forklifts were engineered for high efficiency and
optimal performance. All three 24-volt models offer
two- and three-stage masts with heights of up to
236 inches and load capacities of 2,200 pounds,
2,750 pounds, and 3,300 pounds.
The 10/13/15BTR- 9 forklifts have a three-wheel design and rear-wheel drive. This combination provides central pivot turning, which
allows the driver to work in confined spaces
such as the narrow aisles of a warehouse. Trucks
in this series also have a unique curve control
feature, which limits travel speed
based on the turning radius, leading to a smooth, precise turning
operation for the driver. An anti-roll-back
system offers protection against machine roll-backs on an incline
as well as exceptional ramp start-up capabilities, Hyundai says.
Operators have the option of four different performance modes:
high, normal, economic, and turtle mode. An electronic directional control handle provides responsive forward/reverse travel.
All three units have advanced safety features, including an
optimized lift cylinder arrangement, which gives operators wider
visibility on all sides, and a panoramic mirror that expands the
driver’s view when backing up. A secondary horn button is
mounted to the hydraulic lift lever for easy access and safe operation. A strong overhead guard exceeding
CEE and ANSI regulations offers operators
protection from falling objects above. When
forks are being lowered on the
10/13/15BTR- 9 series, a down-control valve
maintains a controlled speed. Similarly, the
down-safety valve prevents forks from
dropping down in case of sudden damage
to the hydraulic line. An operator presence
sensing system (OPSS) makes most drive
movements, including lift lock, tilt lock, and
drive lock, impossible when an operator is
not in the seat. Halogen headlights and
rear LED combination lights offer excellent
visibility in all circumstances. Rear reflectors mounted on the counterweight
enhance safety for the driver and anyone nearby.
Despite their compact design, these models have ample room
for operators. A low entrance height makes entering and exiting
the machine safe and easy. An adjustable steering wheel enables
operators to achieve their most comfortable driving position. In
addition, the angle of the steering column can be easily adjusted
