IIoT starter kits: Harting, a Germany-based
manufacturer of factory automation and
other solutions for the connector sector, has
introduced three starter kits for customers
looking to implement Industrial Internet of
Things (IIo T) solutions. Each kit contains all of
the necessary hardware and software for a
basic application.
The first kit is the Harting MICA (modular
industry computing architecture) CISS (
connected industrial sensor solution) Complete
IIoT Starter Kit for a basic condition-mon-itoring application. It comes with a sensor
that can measure seven different parameters,
including vibration, acoustics, temperature,
and humidity. The sensor is connected to
the Harting MICA, a device that processes,
computes, and visualizes all the data from
the sensor. The Harting MICA comes with
pre-installed software that includes an easy-to-use dashboard that shows all of the sensor
readouts.
The Harting MICA RF-R300 Complete RFID
Starter Kit contains everything needed for a
basic RFID asset-tracking application: industrial RFID tags, the Harting MICA RF-R300 reader, two antennas, and all cabling. The Harting
MICA comes with a pre-installed demo version of the company’s Ha-VIS middleware,
which translates the raw RFID signal formats
into modern software protocols.
The third kit is the Harting MICA Basic
Ethernet Starter Kit. This one is ideal for
connecting peripheral devices through ethernet, using communication protocols such
as Modbus-TCP or OPC UA, the company says. The kit contains all of the cabling
required to get started and a basic version
of the Harting MICA and software. (Harting,

Strapping tool: Signode
Packaging Systems, a manufacturer of steel and plastic strapping materials and
equipment, has introduced the BXT3 Plastic
Strapping Tool. The drop-, dust-, and mois-ture-proof tool is easy to assemble and disassemble, and features a full-touch three-color
display, the company says. The BXT3 is suitable for all types of applications, including
heavy-duty applications requiring high tension force in extremely rough and tough environmental conditions and sensitive, light-duty
applications requiring soft tensioning and
small and thin straps, according to Signode.
The BXT3’s features include real-time
indication of tension force, variable tension
speed, strap alignment indication, and acoustic signal. (Signode, www.signode.com)
