Conveyor belt: Emerson’s Power
Transmission Solutions business
has introduced the System Plast
2257 Series, a side-flexing modular plastic belt for unit handling.
The new belt features a pat-ent-pending universal design that
allows both left and right turns
and S-curves.
Produced in the U.S., the Series 2257 belt is injection molded with the new proprietary NG Evo thermoplastic, which is
designed for high-speed running and low noise and energy
requirements. It has a low coefficient of friction and low moisture
absorption, allowing the belt to convey heavy loads with minimal
horsepower.
In addition to Evo thermoplastic, the conveyor uses Nolu-S
wear strips and guides to reduce friction even further. These wear
strips and guides are made out of a unique resin with a solid
lubricant that dramatically reduces the coefficient of friction. The
combination of NG Evo chain and Nolu-S wear strips can reduce
a conveyor’s energy requirements by up to 30 percent and quintuple its service life, the company says.
The belt is available in a 1-inch pitch, in standard widths of 9 to
24 inches, and with four different clip styles to meet the retention
requirements of the application. The belt is rated for a maximum
working load of 450 pounds. (Emerson, www.emerson.com)
Electric lift truck: Cat Lift Trucks has added a new model to
its series of large electric pneumatic tire lift trucks. The new
2EPC7000 lift truck features industry-leading lift speeds and
increased energy efficiency, according to the manufacturer.
The 2EPC7000 has a lifting capacity of 7,000 pounds, making
it the model with the smallest capacity of the series. (The others
have capacities ranging from 8,000 to 11,000 pounds.)
According to Cat, the lift truck can operate up to two shifts
on one battery charge in most applications. Additionally, the
lift truck features 500-hour extended service intervals and easy
access to components for service.
The truck’s advanced AC technology ensures responsive acceleration and braking, allowing for precise positioning, powerful
acceleration, controlled travel speed on ramps, and less brake
component wear for lower maintenance costs.
Customers can also select additional options, such as pin-code
access, travel speed reduction, an ergonomic seat, a closed cabin,
and cold storage or tropics modifications. (Cat Lift Trucks, www.

Conveyor line: Material handling systems provider Wynright
Corp. has introduced a “Green Line” of conveyor systems.
This energy-efficient platform consists of multiple families of
conveyors, including AutoRoll+, Belt Conveyor, Live Roller, and
V-Belt conveyor. All of these conveyors reduce noise, energy
consumption, and long-term maintenance costs.
A key component of the Green Line is AutoRoll+, which
Wynright says cuts noise by two decibels and reduces energy
consumption by as much as 30 percent, depending on product
load. The AutoRoll+, which uses motor driven roller (MDR) technology, works in an on-demand format, powering up only when
a package is sensed in the preceding zone on the conveyor and
transporting the product to the next zone. Photoeyes detect
when cartons are present and need to be transported. The zones
stop automatically once all product has cleared the photoeye.
Each of the conveyor families included in the new Green Line
utilizes a common side channel, which reduces assembly hardware and installation time.
Wynright is a wholly owned subsidiary of Daifuku Webb.

3PL guarantee: Third-party logistics (3PL) company Landair has
announced a new logistics service feature, Guaranteed Value
Acceleration. Under that program, Landair is now guaranteeing
that it will predictably produce measurable financial, operational,
or customer service improvements.
Landair will offer Guaranteed Value Acceleration (GVA) on
three contract logistics services: dedicated contract carriage,
warehouse/distribution management, and transportation management. To provide the GVA, Landair’s logistics engineers
conduct a “value identification and enablement workshop” with
each customer. The engineers work with the customer to define
value in specific terms that are meaningful to that customer’s
business.
Landair then builds GVA metrics and milestones into the
customer’s logistics strategy and contract, committing to progressively higher levels of value over the contract’s duration. If
value metrics and milestones are missed, the contract specifies
commensurate financial guarantees. (Landair, www.landair.com)
