Logistics software: Supply chain software company Softeon has
created an “end-to-end” logistics solution for companies with
distribution-intensive supply chains, such as those with their own
fleets for retail delivery. The solution seeks to optimize distribution center operations, truck loading, and route operations.
The solution includes a warehouse management system
(WMS), a load-planning system, order management and forecasting solutions, a route accounting solution, and a direct-store
delivery solution.
The WMS includes special capabilities needed by delivery-inten-sive companies, such as a sophisticated picking functionality to
support stop- and product-sequenced loading. It supports voice
technology, and is capable of labor and resource management.
The Softeon solution also offers optimized delivery-truck load
planning that is directly connected to picking operations in the
WMS.
The order management and forecasting solutions are capable
of directing what inventory should be loaded on delivery trucks
to fill pre-orders as well as what will likely be needed to accommodate “opportunistic” sales at delivery stops.
This entire end-to-end solution is available in either a traditional deployment or on demand in the cloud. (Softeon, www.

Rugged tablet and smartphone: The
Gladius 5 Io T (Internet of Things) tablet
and smartphone from Arbor Solution
Inc. is a rugged device designed for a
variety of applications, such as mobile
point of sale (mPOS), field service,
transportation, and public safety.
The Gladius 5 features an easy-to-view 5.5-inch HD LCD with a multitouch panel and anti-reflec-tion Corning Gorilla Glass. The tablet has 1 gigabyte of memory
and 8 gigabytes of storage. It uses a lithium ion rechargeable/
field-replaceable battery, which allows for up to eight hours of
continuous use. It can also be ordered with a 1-D or 1-D/2-D
bar-code scanner.
The unit is compliant with MIL-STD-810G and IP65 standards
for 5-foot drop resistance, shock, and sealing. (Arbor Solution

Fleet telematics and video storage: Digital Ally’s new cloud
telematics and video storage system, called FleetVu Manager,
offers fleet incident video management and reporting capabilities.
FleetVu Manager also enables efficient analysis of fleet performance with automated driver behavior statistics and customiz-able reporting. It allows users to access detailed driver and vehicle
information, and configure and update their Video Event Data
Recorder (VEDR) equipment wirelessly. The user can perform
functionality checks, control alert triggers and geo-fencing, and
review incident video and causality data with interactive route
maps. These functions can enhance driver safety, reduce maintenance and related expenses, and improve performance.
Digital Ally’s Video Event Data Recorders improve visibility for
safer vehicle backing up, exiting, and operation while automatically recording on a constant loop and/or individual incidents
from up to eight uniquely triggered cameras. (Digital Ally Inc.,

Proof-of-delivery solution: Airclic, a developer of cloud-based
solutions for the mobile supply chain, has updated its Perform for
Transportation software, the company’s electronic proof-of-delivery (ePoD) and cross-docking solution.
The latest release of Perform for Transportation adds features
that can improve the ways companies manage, optimize, and
update delivery routing, says Airclic. It also expands the management of multistop orders. With these new capabilities, companies
and 3PLs will find it even easier to quickly factor in real-time
changes throughout the shipping and delivery process—ensuring
that items are delivered to the correct destination despite any
last-minute adjustments, says Airclic.
Perform for Transportation uses Airclic’s Perform for Route
Planning and Optimization to calculate optimal routes for all
unallocated orders throughout the day. The system automatically assigns orders to routes and dispatches them to drivers in
real time as they are needed, continuously adjusting routes and
schedules to account for changing conditions. Real-time adjustments and changes can be made and shared with those already
in the middle of their routes—helping to guarantee that end
users still receive orders on time.
The system also has a new Dockworker Depot Stops capability,
which designs dock workflow to facilitate the smooth and efficient flow of freight and orders from one side of the dock to the
other. (Airclic, www.airclic.com/)
