Corrosion inhibiting paint from Halox
Patent No. U.S. 7,306,663 B2
Halox has received a patent for a
paint mixture containing a chemical
composition that inhibits corrosion
in metal substrates when applied.
The chemical composition is comprised of a first complexing agent
comprised of an amine group; and a
second complexing agent comprised
of a carboxylic acid; wherein the first
complexing agent is an alkylamine
selected from the group consisting of
3-methoxypropylamine, 4-ethylmor-
pholine, dimethylaminopropylamine
and aminopropylmorpholine.
SUMITOMO PATENTS METHOD
FOR PRODUCING TITANIUM OXIDE
Patent No. U.S. 7,303,738 B2
Sumitomo Chemical Company has
obtained a patent for a method for producing titanium oxide. The method is
comprised of adjusting a gas to have a
prescribed steam pressure before
introducing the gas into a furnace, and
calcining at least one titanium oxide
precursor selected from the group consisting of a titanium hydroxide and a
titanium peroxide, wherein the calcination is conducted in the presence of
nitrogen molecules and at a steam
pressure of at most approximately
8,000 Pa, and the calcination is conducted in the furnace into which the
gas is introduced, wherein the gas has
a steam pressure of at most approximately 8,000 Pa.
AQUEOUS COATING WITH
IMPROVED OPACITY
Patent No. U.S. 7,300,509 B2
Solae LLC has obtained a patent
for an aqueous pigmented coating formulation for improving opacity comprised of a pigment, from approximately 3.0 parts (per hundred parts
pigment) to about 30 parts (per hundred parts pigment) binder, and from
0.1 parts (per hundred parts pigment)
to 5.0 parts (per hundred parts pigment) acylated lecithin, wherein it
comprises less than 5% by total
weight acylated lecithin.
GONIOCHROMATIC BRIGHT
PIGMENTS FROM BASF
Patent No. U.S. 7,300,510 B2
BASF has been granted a patent
for goniochromatic luster pigments
comprised of at least one dielectric
low-refractive interference-colored
layer comprised of a polar organic solvent which can interact with the layer
material via hydroxyl or amide
groups; the layer having a geometric
layer thickness in the range from 80
to 800 nm.
SUN CHEMICAL PATENTS LOW
VISCOSITY OIL-BASED DISPERSIONS
Patent No. U.S. 7,300,511 B2
Sun Chemical Corporation has
been granted a patent for an oil-based pigment dispersion comprised
of at least approximately 45% weight
of pigment, wherein the pigment is
selected from the group consisting of
organic pigments and carbon black,
the dispersion having a relative
interfacial tension drop of less than
approximately 1.5 and a viscosity of
less than 150 Pa.s.
ALIGNABLE DIFFRACTIVE
PIGMENT FLAKES
Patent No. U.S. 7,300,695 B2
JDS Uniphase Corporation has
obtained a patent for an image
formed on a medium. The image is
comprised of a first region including
a first plurality of diffractive pigment flakes each having a diffractive
structure that forms a pattern of
lines or grooves, wherein most of the
first plurality of diffractive pigment
flakes are oriented in a selected first
orientation such that the lines or
grooves of the flakes are substantially parallel to each other and a second
region.
MERCK PATENTS LUSTROUS
BLACK INTERFERENCE PIGMENTS
Patent No. U.S. 7,303,622 B2
Merck Patent has received a
patent for lustrous black interference pigments comprised of a mixture of different substrates having a
coating of Fe3O4; a colorless coating
consisting of one or more layers each
having a refractive index of n<1.8; a
coating with an absorbent, high-refractive-index material which contains Fe3O4, a black sulfide, a black
oxynitride or a mixture thereof, and
which only covers part of the underlying surface; and optionally an
outer protective layer.
