Anvil launches new bonding primer
Anvil 1750 High Performance
Water Borne Grip-Tite Bonding Primer
Anvil Paints & Coatings has introduced
a new bonding primer, Anvil 1750 High
Performance Water Borne Grip-Tite
Bonding Primer, which penetrates into
concrete and forms a surface that
improves the adhesion, workability and
durability of the topcoat. The new
primer can be used on interior or exterior, painted or unpainted concrete,
masonry, stucco, CMU block and porous
brick surfaces whether vertical or horizontal. Anvil 1750 is also ideal as a
touch up primer.
Once the surface is primed with Anvil
1750, the decorative concrete contractor
or homeowner can also use Anvil 1700
High Performance Epoxy Show Coat to
provide a durable satin finish resistant
to chemicals, oil, gasoline, fading and
hot tire pick-up. For the finishing touch,
Anvil’s Wet Look 2350 Super Clear
Acrylic Sealer can be added for a super-gloss showroom finish.
SPECIALTY COATING SYSTEMS’ NEW
ADHESION PROMOTION TECHNOLOGY
Specialty Coating Systems (SCS) has
introduced a new adhesion promotion
technology—AdPro Plus—specifically
developed to improve adhesion of parylene conformal coatings to various substrates. AdPro Plus increases adhesion
between parylene coatings and various
substrates. Strong adhesion of parylene
is critical to enable the coating to provide maximum benefit to the application. Optimal adhesion of parylene to a
wide variety of substrates, including
metal, plastic, elastomer, glass and
paper is commonly achieved by a treatment with A-174 silane prior to parylene coating. However, in some applications, materials remain to which parylene coatings may not achieve optimal
adhesion. AdPro Plus is an adhesion
promotion technique that improves
adhesion of parylene coatings to mate-
rials such as titanium, stainless steel,
gold, chromium, Santoprene, polyimide,
polycarbonate and solder mask, to
name a few. Additionally, AdPro Plus
has demonstrated improved stability at
elevated temperatures, making it a
good adhesion promotion tool for harsh
environment applications.
HIGH TEMP. NYLON FLASH TAPE FOR
METAL AND COMPOSITE BONDING
Scapa North America has introduced
Scapa 815, a heat-resistant, non-sili-cone tape that withstands temperatures up to 350°F. This product is
designed to mask and hold tools, forms
and parts for metal and composite
bonding, and for masking PCB contacts
during conformal coating. Scapa 815
consists of a high temperature nylon
backing, single coated with a rubber
adhesive that eliminates the potential
for silicone contamination. The 3.2 mil-liliter-thick tape is easy to apply and
remove, and withstands autoclaving if
necessary.
BIOCOATINGS MARKETS
NEW VINYL COATING SYSTEM
FOR THE MARINE INDUSTRY
BioCoatings LLC has unveiled a new
vinyl coating system for the marine
industry. Featuring the proprietary One
Plus Green “0 VOC” solvent and Marine
Vinyl Coat (MVC) developed by Tarksol
Inc., the system meets all current and
proposed environmental and health
safety requirements and regulations.
One Plus Green VOC-compliant solvent contains no VOCs, and according
to the company, is the only environmentally acceptable solvent available today
that can solubilize the vinyl resins
required to make vinyl coatings for
marine use.
MVC vinyl coatings are environmentally friendly, and have proven more
