SMC APPOINTS NEW
PRODUCT MANAGER
Special Materials Company (SMC)
has appointed Matt Van Tiem as
product manager, paint and coat-ings/specialty products. In his new
position, Van Tiem will be responsible for all SMC’s commercial activities related to the supply and management of SMC’s VOC exempt solvent, PCBTF, and other chemical
specialties in the paint and coatings
market. Prior to joining SMC, he held
sales and management roles with
Dow, Huntsman, Sterling Chemical
and Texas Petrochemicals.
CRAY VALLEY NAMES
POLTZ PLANT MANAGER
Cray Valley named Tom Poltz plant
manager of the company’s Beaumont,
TX manufacturing facility. In his new
position, Poltz will be responsible for
all facility operations and safety. He
will report to Mohammed Dekoik, global manufacturing technology manager.
Poltz joins Cray Valley after working
for Arkema as director of global HSE
processes and audits, and director of
industrial safety. He has more than 15
years of chemical plant management
experience.
HEUCOTECH NAMES
BUSINESS MANAGER
Heucotech Ltd., a Heubach company,
has promoted Robert Poemer to business manager. In his new role,
Poemer will be responsible for the
marketing strategy of Heubach’s pig-
ments and preparations in the NAFTA
region for all markets.
Prior to joining the Heubach Group,
Poemer was in leadership positions in
marketing, manufacturing and purchasing for more than 25 years.

Silberline Manufacturing Company
has appointed James E. Mason vice
president of operations. Prior to joining Silberline, Mason was employed at
BASF.
Hai-Hue Lin has been appointed
global manager, special effects and
substrate technology. Most recently
Lin held the position of senior scientist, R&D for Day International.
Thomas R. Burleson has been
named executive accounts manager.
Robert D. Haines has also been named

CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER
H.B. Fuller Company has appointed
Barry S. Snyder chief technology officer. Snyder comes to H.B. Fuller from
Celanese Corp. where he served as
global technology director for the
emulsions/PVOH business unit since
2007. Prior to his time with
Celanese, Snyder spent 16 years with
Rohm and Haas in a variety of technical, marketing and commercial
management positions.
ECOLOGY COATINGS APPOINTS
CEO, MAKES BOARD CHANGES
Ecology Coatings Inc., a manufacturer
of nanotechnology-enabled UV curable
coatings, has appointed Robert G.
Crockett chief technology officer.
Crockett replaces Richard D.
Stromback, who will remain chairman
of the board. Prior to joining Ecology
Coatings, Crockett held the position of
president, exterior painted products
business and vice president of sales for
Michigan-based Plastech Engineered
Products. He also served as vice presi-
dent of sales for the Becker Group Inc.
and director of program management
for Textron Automotive.
The company also announced that
David W. Morgan, the company’s chief
financial officer and its chief operating
officer and president, F. Thomas
Krotine have resigned from the board
of directors. J.B Smith, managing

STOPPERT NAMED
PRESIDENT AND CEO SEGETIS
Segetis, Inc., a manufacturer of a variety of bio-based chemicals and plastics, has appointed James Stoppert
president and CEO. Stoppert comes
from Cargill where he led the industrial BioProducts business unit
focused on renewable routes to chemicals and plastics. He has more than 35
years of commercial experience in the
chemicals industry.
ARIZONA CHEMICAL NAMES
NEW PRESIDENT AND CEO
Cornelis Verhaar has joined Arizona
Chemical as president and CEO. He
replaces, Gerald C. Marterer, who
announced his retirement at the end
of the year. Marterer will remain on
the company’s board of directors.
Verhaar has more than 30 years
experience in executive leadership
positions in the global chemical industry. Most recently he served as executive vice president of Hexion Specialty
Chemicals, where he was responsible
for running Hexion’s $2.8 billion epoxy
and coating resins business.
