Ciba launches two new dispersants
Ciba has introduced two new dispersants for industrial and automotive
coatings. Ciba EFKA 4310 and EFKA
4320 are designed to improve the stability of pigment dispersions and their
compatibility with resins, thereby
increasing flexibility in manufacture
and allowing substantial cost savings.
They are produced by controlled free
radical polymerization (CFRP) additive
technology. EFKA 4310 and EFKA 4320
perform with a broad range of organic
pigments and carbon black. EFKA 4310
is tailor-made for coating coil systems,
and is also suitable for use with a wide
variety of resins. 4320 is designed for
thermoplastic acrylic systems and is
also compatible with numerous different resin types. More info: Ciba, Web:

ROHM AND HAAS
INTRODUCES DURAPLUS
Rohm and Haas has launched Duraplus
MP emulsion, a new binder for the
North American floor finish market.
This new multi-purpose, styrene-acrylic
waterborne copolymer can be formulated to meet the strictest VOC standards
and still outperform traditional solvent-and waterborne semi-transparent stain
technologies, according to the company.
Floor finishes based on Rhoplex MP
emulsion are recommended for periodic
and high maintenance environments,
such as supermarkets, non-food retail
and office building lobbies. The company reports that Duraplus MP emulsion
provides outstanding appearance, gloss
retention, superior repairability,
recoatability and are AEPO-free. More

HOCKMEYER INTRODUCES
NEW HCPS IMMERSION MILL
Hockmeyer Equipment has introduced
the new HCPS immersion mill design,
which features the addition of an upper
auger and interchangeable scraper
blades. Every machine includes both a
sidewall scraper and an anchor helix
scraper. The S series is designed for processing high viscosity and/or highly
thixotropic products up to 400,000 cps.

SARTOMER INTRODUCES SR533R
PEROXIDE-CURED ELASTOMERS
Sartomer Company has introduced
SR533R, a scorth-retarding version of
triallyl isocyanurate (TAIC). This new
co-agent allows formulators to mitigate
the rapid onset of scorth and increase
in-process and cure scorth safety while
maintaining physical properties.
SR533R scorth-retarding co-agent is
effective in the peroxide cure of elastomers in demanding applications such
as oil and gas exploration, aerospace
seals and automotive and off-road gaskets that encounter sustained high
temperatures and pressures. More info:

NETZSCH OFFERS LABSTAR
MILL CONVERSION KIT
Netzsch Fine Particle Technology LLC
has developed a conversion kit that
allows its LabStar disc mill users to
choose between the TriNex or Zeta
grinding systems, as well as various
batch sizes in the range of 75 mL to 500
mL. With easy installation of the conversion kit, the LabStar’s chamber size
is altered. Users can select the
MiniSeries’ 230 mL chamber or the
MicroSeries’ 110 mL design to achieve
smaller batch sizes. The TriNex grinding system is triple concentrically
mounted and enables a higher energy
density per liter of grinding chamber
volume. The horizontal Zeta mill system offers high energy, high flow, multi-
ple pass and circulation grinding to
achieve very narrow submicron particle
size distributions with repeatability.

DSM POWDER COATING RESINS
LAUNCHES URALAC CORRES
DSMPowder Coating Resins has
launched Uralac Corres, a new technology platform based on polyester
resins for corrosion protective coatings.
The first product in this line, Uralac
P7604 is specifically developed for top
coat and primer applications and provides corrosion protection in metal
coatings. For top coat applications, the
Uralac Corres technology offers the
ability to significantly reduce and
sometimes eliminate chemical pre-treatment steps, thereby creating less
waste. Formulated as a primer, Uralac
Corres can replace epoxy. The company
reports that Uralac Corres performs
equal or better than conventional
epoxy-based systems, but is more
environmentally-friendly. More info:
