Union Process flexible design SD- 50 Attritor
Union Process, a manufacturer of
size reduction and dispersing equipment, has produced a new batch-type
attritor that offers multiple benefits
to the customer by allowing wet or
dry grinding and the interchangeability of different tank sizes on one
mill. The unique design means that
users can operate the mill either as
an SD- 50 or a smaller- 30 by interchanging the tanks. The energy-effi-cient SD- 50 can handle a broad
range of dry grinding applications
including ceramics, carbides, metal
powders, pigments, glass frits and
mechanical alloying. This particular
mill was constructed with an optional explosion-proof design that features explosion-proof controls and
variable frequency drive that is
mounted outside the hazardous area.
Batch-type attritors can be used for
fast, efficient grinding and repeatable results. More info: Union

CYTEC LAUNCHES ENERGY
CURABLE EPOXIDES
Cytec Industries has launched
UVACURE curing resins 1500 and
1550. This family of products is
designed for energy curable applications where low shrinkage upon curing is critical for adhesion to difficult
substrates. This cationic epoxide can
be used in coatings for plastics and
metals. The products are a high purity, low viscosity, cycloaliphatic di-epoxide, as well as a standard grade
cycloaliphatic that undergo rapid
polymerization when exposed to UV
light in the presence of a cationic
photoinitiator. UVACURE 1500 and
1550 are durable, solvent resistant
and exhibit good adhesion to a variety of substrates, including plastics
and metals, according to the compa-
ny. More info: Cytec Industries, (973)

ELIOKEM INTRODUCES
PLIOTEC CR30
Eliokem has introduced Pliotec CR30
acrylic copolymer designed specifically for high performance less than
50 g/L VOC garage floor coatings.
Pliotec CR 30 allows the formulation
of freeze/thaw stable coatings. This
resin system can meet the stringent
regulations such as SQAMD without
compromising the coatings properties, according to the company.
Pliotec CR30 exhibits resistance to
hot tire pick up, low temperature
cure at 35˚F, freeze/thaw stability,
abrasion resistance, chemical resistance and gasoline resistance.
Recommended applications include
garage floor paints, concrete floor
paints for patios, walkways, porches,
basements and laundry rooms. More

BYK-CHEMIE OFFERS
POLYESTER-MODIFIED SILICONE
BYK-Chemie has launched BYK-313
polyester-modified silicone for use is
solventborne systems. BYK-313 is
free of HAPs and aromatic solvents.
The additive shows a strong reduction of surface tension, higher slop
and gloss, according to the company.
BYK-313 can be used in a number of
applications, including can and coil
coatings, general industrial coatings,
automotive coatings and wood and
furniture coatings. More info: BYK-Chemie, E-mail: info@byk.com; Web:

ISP LAUNCHES THREE NEW
WOOD PROTECTION PRODUCTS
International Specialty Products
(ISP) has launched three new prod-
ucts to its SunCare Lignin Protection
line. These UV protection products
stabilize the primary lignin in the
wood, representing a first line of
defense against a range of factors
that cause wood degradation.
SunCare Concentrate and Suncare
UV Concentrate serves as additives
in primer and stain applications. The
third product, SunCare 800, is a
ready-to-use formulated primer for
untreated exterior wood. The company reports that when SunCare
Lignin Protection technology is used
as a primer or additive, it can significantly increase the level of wood
protection and prevent yellowing of
coatings. More info: ISP, Web:

DOW RELEASES ECOSURF EH
SPECIALTY SURFACTANT BROCHURE
The Dow Polyglycols and Surfactants
business has introduced a new
brochure to complement the recent
introduction of the Ecosurf EH specialty surfactants line. Ecosurf EF
non-ionic surfactants provide superior performance benefits in many formulations over alkylphenol ethoxylates (NPEs and OPEs) and/or fatty
alcohol ethoxylates (PAEs) as well as
other, commercially available alternative surfactant chemistries,
according to the company. They can
be used in a variety of applications
such as hard surface cleaning, textile
processing, paints and coatings and
agrochemicals where excellent wetting is a determining property in surfactant use. Ecosurf EH surfactants
are biodegradable, designed to
improve cleaning performance and
provide greater formulation flexibility while also meeting emerging environmental requirements. The
brochure is available for free. More
