International Paint names vice president
International Paint has named
Chris Tiernay vice president protective coatings, North America. In this
role, Tiernay will be responsible for
growing the protective coatings business throughout the U.S., Canada,
Mexico and Central America, which
includes the International Paint
Protective Coatings, Devoe High
Performance Coatings, Enviroline,
Ceilcote and Chartek brands.
Tiernay is a 24-year veteran of the
coatings industry and has extensive
expertise in sales, sales management and general management roles
in both Canada and the U.S., with
broad experience in company-owned
stores and independent dealer channels of distribution. Prior to joining
International Paint Protective
Coatings, he held a number of senior
sales management roles at the former ICI Paints.
SARTOMER NAMES
TWO NEW MANAGERS
Sartomer Company has named Todd
Speece business development manager, rubber and Kathleen Shelton marketing manager, metallic monomers.
Both Speece and Shelton will be
based in Sartomer’s Exton, PA headquarters.
In his new position Speece will be
responsible for developing new applications and business opportunities in
the rubber industry. He reports to Bill
Wittig, business director. Speece previously served as strategic rubber
accounts manager for Sartomer,
responsible for the sales and marketing activities of Sartomer’s global rubber accounts. He joined the company
in 2000 as a marketing manager
when it acquired Ricon Resins.
Shelton is responsible for the business and marketing activities of the
metallic monomers group. She reports
directly to Charles Mateer, marketing
manager, functional additives.
Shelton originally joined Sartomer in
2001. She has served in a variety of
functions, most recently as aerospace
manager and business development
manager, metallic monomers.
TRUST CHEM USA EXPANDS TEAM
Rick Campbell, president, Trust
Chem USA, recently announced that
Andrew Blum has joined his staff.
Blum has nearly 50 years experience
in the pigments and pigments consuming industries. After holding various positions with ink, paint and dispersion firms he joined American
Hoechst where he eventually became
director for the North American pigments business for Hoechst Celanese.
After Hoechst sold its industrial units
to Clariant, Blum joined Roma
Color/EC Pigments, first as vice president of sales and marketing, and
later as managing director for
European Colour worldwide. In his
new role at Trust Chem USA, Blum
will assist with planning as well as
handling some key accounts.
HENNING NAMED GM
OF DOW MICROBIAL CONTROL
Mark Henning has been named general manager of Dow Microbial
Control, a business unit of The Dow
Chemical Company. In this role
Henning will assume leadership of
the newly-combined businesses of
Dow Biocides and Rohm and Haas
Biocides. Henning joined Dow in
1983 as an electrical engineer at the
Joliet, IL manufacturing plant. He
has held a number of leadership
positions throughout his career at
Dow. In 2001, he joined Angus
Chemical Co., a subsidiary of Dow,
as global business director, executive
vice president and chief operating
officer. He assumed additional leadership responsibilities in 2004 as
general manager of Dow Biocides,
and as president and CEO of Angus
Chemical Company.
DOW CORNING NAMES CARBARY
CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY SCIENTIST
Dow Corning Corp. has promoted
Larry Carbary to the position of construction industry scientist. In his
new role, Carbary will work with
global colleagues to deepen industry
knowledge to extend beyond structural glazing technology used in cur-tainwall construction to include more
advanced global building standards
and practices.
PRUITT TO RETIRE FROM UNIVAR
Univar chairman and CEO Gary
Pruitt has announced that he will
retire as chief executive officer. He
will remain with Univar as chairman
of the board following the transition
to a new CEO. Pruitt is a 30-year veteran of Univar. As chairman, Pruitt
will continue to lead the strategic
direction of the company. Pruitt and
the board of directors have initiated
the search process for his successor.
The transition to a new CEO is
expected to be completed by the end
of 2009.
SMC APPOINTS TRAMONTANA
PRODUCT MANAGER
Special Materials Company (SMC)
has appointed Diane Tramontana
product manager, VOC compliance solvents. In her new position,
Tramontana will be responsible for all
of SMC’s commercial activities related
to the supply and management of the
company’s VOC exempt solvent offering North America, and other chemical specialties onto the paint, coatings
and adhesives markets. Prior to joining SMC she held a variety of sales
and management roles with
OxyChem, Rhodia and ISP. CW
