Lanxess adds newer Levanyl
and Levanox grades to its
pigments for paints and
coatings
Lanxess has added seven new weather-resistant Levanyl and Levanox grades to
its pigment preparation portfolio. These
newly developed pigment preparations
based on high-performance organic and
inorganic pigments have excellent lightfastness and weather resistance properties, making them ideal for outdoor use
the company said. The new grades extend the color range of the Lanxess pigment preparations significantly and
make it possible to obtain brilliant hues
with excellent lightfastness. The three
new organic pigment dispersions Levanyl Scarlet 2G-LF (P. R. 168), Levanyl
Red 3G-LF (P. R. 254) and Levanyl Magenta B-LF (P. R. 122) expand the range
of red shades. The new additions to the
range of inorganic dispersions are the
brilliant Levanox Yellow 6G-LF (
bismuth vanadate yellow P. Y. 184), the two
brilliant complex pigments Levanox
Blue 2R-LF (P. B. 28) and Levanox Blue
4G-LF (P. B. 36), and Levanox Orange
943 LF, a modified iron oxide yellow P.
Y. 42 with a warm orange shade. All the
new inorganic dispersions are using a
modified formulation, which prevents
heavy pigment particles from forming a
compact sediment if they settle. This
means they can be completely homoge-
Air Products unveils Dynol
surfactants and Zetasperse
3600 dispersing additive
Air Products has introduced two new su-perwetting surfactants and one new pigment dispersant for use in the coatings
industry. These new alkylphenol ethoxy-late (APE) free surfactants are designed to
deliver improved value and superior performance versus competing products.
Both Dynol 800 and 810 surfactants
were engineered to eliminate defects on dif-ficult-to-coat substrates. They can offer superior performance versus silicones and
fluorosurfactants with the environmental
benefit of zero APEs, VOCs, HAPs, or solvents. Dynol 800 surfactant offers especially improved performance in wood and
plastic coatings, while Dynol 810 surfactant
enables exceptional performance in printing inks and overprint varnishes. Both
products can provide premium surface tension reduction while helping to control
foam and are easy to handle and formulate.
Zetasperse 3600 dispersing additive
was developed for broad utility across typical organic and carbon black pigments
and has shown robust performance with
globally sourced pigment grades. Designed
as a multifunctional dispersant, it can not
only provide exceptional pigment dispersion and stabilization, but can also be used
as a grind aid for aqueous architectural
coatings, colorants, and inks. Zetsperse
3600 dispersing additive is an effective and
cost-efficient dispersant designed to sim-
Elementis introduces Rheolate
475 HASE rheology modifier
for decorative coatings
Elementis Specialties has introduced Rheolate 475 for the American decorative
coatings market. Rheolate 475 is a solvent-free, hydrophobically modified al-kali-soluble emulsion (HASE) rheology
modifier for low and zero VOC interior
decorative coatings. This advanced technology provides the balance of properties
not typically found in acrylic chemistries
such as excellent flow and leveling, good
sag resistance and good color properties
the company said. It also demonstrates
very good efficiency across a broad range
of binder chemistries.
Key features include excellent paint appearance; excellent flow and leveling while
maintaining sag resistance; very good application properties; good efficiency and
spatter resistance; low viscosity liquid; easy
to handle and incorporate into manufacturing processes; solvent- and APEO-free;
low odor, low VOC applications. Rheolate
475 has excellent KU efficiency across a
wide range of chemistries the company
said. In many formulations the efficiency of
Rheolate 475 offers opportunities to lower
costs without sacrificing performance. In
tinted systems, Rheolate 475 maintains excellent balance of leveling and sag resistance
while offering good viscosity stability. This
performance is evident across the wide
range of binder chemistries. CW
