Doug Mattscheck named Quest Specialty
Chemicals' president and CEO
Quest Specialty Chemicals, a portfolio company of Audax Group and Moelis Capital
Partners, has appointed Doug Mattscheck
president and CEO, effective May 29th.
Headquartered in Menomonee Falls,
Wis., Quest formulates and manufactures
coatings for automotive aftermarket, architectural, industrial and roofing applications. Fred Quinn, Quest’s co-founder and
current CEO, will continue as chairman of
the board of directors and maintain an active role in directing Quest’s strategy and
leading acquisitions. Gerry Loftus, Quest’s
co-founder and COO, will join Quest’s
board and maintain an active role in supporting the growth of the business.
Mattscheck has extensive experience
and a proven track record of growing
companies through acquisitions and improving operations in the specialty coatings and building materials industries. He
was most recently the president and chief
executive of AGY, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of specialty glass fiber
and related coatings. Prior to AGY,
Mattscheck was president of the technical fabrics division of Saint-Gobain and
held executive positions with H.B. Fuller,
Schlegel Corporation and DuPont.
Quest operates under the Matrix Systems, RAABE, Hydro-Stop, United Coatings, Patriot Paint, StreetBond, Foxcolor
and Zolatone brand names.
Geenen joins Emerald Kalama
Chemical BV
Emerald Kalama Chemical, a division of
Emerald Performance Materials, has appointed Jacques Geenen as K-Flex technical
sales manager for Europe. Geenen fills a
new position at the division European headquarters in Geleen, The Netherlands, to support the growing demand for the K-Flex
product line in the region. K-Flex is a non-phthalate, non-SVHC, REACH pre-regis-tered dibenzoate plasticizer that offers
multiple performance benefits for adhesives,
sealants, coatings, vinyl and other end uses.
The company currently manufactures its K-
Flex product line in Kalama, Wash., and will
commission a new K-Flex operation in Rotterdam in The Netherlands later this year.
Dur-A-Flex names Alessandro
Machado Jesus international
strategic marketing manager
Dur-A-Flex, Inc. has named Alessandro
Machado Jesus as international strategic
marketing manager.
Machado Jesus is the
former global marketing manager at
Henkel Corp., Rocky
Hill, Conn. Prior to
joining Dur-A-Flex,
he spent 13 years
working for the Loc-tite division of Ger-many-based Henkel
Corporation where he held a number of
marketing leadership roles first in his native city of São Paulo, Brazil and, subsequently, relocating to the Rocky Hill,
Conn. headquarters to assume additional
marketing responsibilities in the United
States and abroad.

Machado Jesus
RPM appoints Thomas Gross to
its board of directors
RPM International Inc. has appointed
Thomas Gross to its board of directors to
replace Donald Miller, who is retiring after
40 years of service. Gross will complete
Miller’s term as a Class II member of the
RPM board and serve on the audit committee. His term will expire on October 4,
2012, at which time he will stand for reelection to the board by RPM’s stockholders at the company’s annual meeting.
Gross is vice chairman and chief operating officer for the Electrical Sector of Eaton
Corporation, a $16 billion global diversified
power management company headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio. He joined Eaton in
2003 as vice president, Eaton Business System, and most recently served as president
of its power quality and controls business.
Prior to joining Eaton, Gross held various
executive leadership positions of increasing
responsibility with Danaher Corporation,
Xycom Automation and Rockwell Automation. He earned a bachelor of science degree
in electrical and computer engineering from
the University of Wisconsin and a master of
business administration degree from the University of Michigan. He currently serves on
the board of governors of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association.
Miller is chairman of Axiom International Investors LLC, an international equity
asset management firm, a role he has held
since 1999. Previously, he held board and executive management positions with Grey-lock Financial Inc., a venture capital firm;
Thomson Advisory Group L.P., a money
management firm; PIMCO Advisors L.P., a
global investment management firm; and
Layne Christensen Company, a successor
corporation to Christensen Boyles Corporation, a supplier of mining products and services. Miller received a bachelor of science
degree from Cornell University and a master of business administration degree from
Harvard University.
Christian Lindenhayn joins
Orion Engineered Carbons
Orion Engineered Carbons said that
Christian Lindenhayn will join the company as senior vice president of the rubber business line effective July 1, 2012. He
will lead the marketing, sales and applied
technology functions for the tire and mechanical rubber goods industries world-wide, and will be based at Orion’s
Americas’ headquarters in Kingwood,
Texas. Lindenhayn, who holds dual Ger-man/Brazilian citizenship, joined Bayer
Brazil in 1988, and continued with
Lanxess in 2004 when it was established
as a separate entity from Bayer. He held
various marketing positions of increasing
responsibility at Bayer/Lanxess in Brazil,
Portugal, Germany, Switzerland and Singapore. Since 2005 Lindenhayn was head
of global marketing for the butyl rubber
business of Lanxess. CW
