Omnova Solutions Introduces 2K Epoxy
Fortified Institutional Coating
Omnova Solutions has launched Pliotec
SA60 colloidal dispersion, which is fortified with a water-based epoxy to form a
2K coating system. This system can be
used on interior vertical walls in institutional locations such as schools, hospitals,
warehouses, office buildings, correctional
facilities and other high traffic areas that
are subject to frequent cleaning.
Pliotec SA60 can be formulated into
a protective coating that has high abrasion and scuff resistance and is resistant
to strong cleaning products, according to
the company. Low VOC, low odor, APE
free, excellent adhesion and fast drying
are all attributes of institutional coatings
formulated with Pliotec SA60, according
to the company. This coating typically is
applied to cement blocks but also has excellent adhesion to primed metal, wood,
drywall and plaster.
This product is available in North
America in bulk shipments or 275 gallon totes.
Pliotec SA60 can be used on interior vertical walls
in high traffic areas.
Ross Offers New Model
HSM-100LCI-T Lab Mixer
Ross has introduced a new multi-pur-pose laboratory mixer model, the HSM-
100LCI-T. This bench-top unit is offered
with interchangeable mixing attachments
including batch and inline rotor/stator
sets, various size disperser blades and propellers. Capable of multiple mixing tasks
including powder wet-out and dispersion,
deagglomeration/particle size reduction,
solubilization, emulsification and homogenization, the HSM-100LCI-T is equipped
with the following standard features: Type
316 stainless steel wetted parts polished to
150-grit finish; 1 HP drive, 115 volt, 50/60
Hz, single phase, 20 amp motor. Optional
voltages are available; variable speed control from 500 - 10,000 rpm (+/- 1% accuracy); color touch screen controls and
display for speed, percent of load, batch
timer and temperature and can be used
with different size vessels – 16” clearance
under mixing attachment and 12” distance
between the feet (base).
Dymax Oligomers and
Coatings’ Offers Water-
Dilutable Oligomer
Dymax Oligomers and Coatings’ new water-dilutable oligomer, Bomar XR-9416,
represents a breakthrough in technology.
The company reports that the material
exhibits substantial water resistance after
cure, a property standard waterborne materials do not have. This oligomer’s water
resistance results in a water-barrier coating that has anti-fogging characteristics.
The 100%-solids, uncured material has a
lower viscosity ( 7,000 cP at 25°C) when
compared to standard waterborne materials, and it contains no water but is infinitely dilutable. No sophisticated equipment
is needed to dilute the product – hand mixing is sufficient. Customers can also expect a significant cost savings because no
water or solvent needs to be shipped.
Water-dilutable oligomers are ideally
suited for wood coatings. When water
penetrates the wood, the wood swells
at the surface and improves the adhesion of the coating without the need for
a separate primer step, resulting in tack-free, tough, flexible coatings with excellent water, chemical and stain resistance.
Other substrates demonstrating good
adhesion are ABS, acrylic, aluminum,
cold rolled steel, glass and stainless steel.
After cure, tack-free, tough, and flexible
coatings are formed with excellent water,
chemical and stain resistance.
Atlas Material Testing
Technology Redesigns
Suntest CPS+
Atlas Material Testing Technology has updated the design features of its Suntest CPS+,
one of the most widely used test instruments
for accelerated material testing.
The new Suntest CPS+ is a practical,
reliable and economical entry-level model
of the Suntest Series of instruments, particularly useful for the aging of smaller
specimens, according to the firm. Typical
applications include light and weather
fastness testing of plastics, coatings, colors, and inks, as well as the testing of cosmetics and pharmaceutical drug products.
With its improved functionality and
ease of operation, this new fourth generation model provides technically advanced
features, which include improved quality
of light for better performance. Areas of
UV fading are now eliminated and repeatability is significantly improved with
Atlas’ improved light technology, according to the company.
The new Suntest CPS+ offers error-free operation with a larger four-line display panel providing easier viewing for
the operator, eight user interface languages (English, German, French, Spanish,
Italian, Chinese, Polish and Russian)
allowing users to control the unit in
their native language, and two pre-pro-grammed test methods convenient for
those new to the use of xenon equipment
for material testing. CW
