LORD will continue to manufacture
all products for SOCOMORE through
a toll manufacturing agreement. The
acquisition, expected to close by the
end of September, will not impact any
LORD employees. Aerospace coating
customers will benefit from the consolidated expertise of both companies in
this strategic agreement.
Axalta Celebrates 35
Years of Operations at
its Front Royal Virginia
Manufacturing Plant
Axalta Coating Systems has celebrated
35 years of operations at its Front Royal
Virginia manufacturing plant with a program, festivities, tours and barbecue for
employees, their families, and local dignitaries. Front Royal’s celebration also coincides with Axalta’s 150th anniversary.
Federal, state and local officials partic-
ipated in the event, honoring Axalta with
certificates of recognition to commemo-
rate the event and the impact the facility
has had on the regional economy and the
surrounding community.
Sika Opens Mortar
Technology Center in
Germany
Sika has opened a technology center focusing on the further and new development of mortar products in Rosendahl,
Germany. Following a construction period of 14 months, it was inaugurated in
an official ceremony.
Following the acquisition of Schönox
at the end of 2013, Sika is now expanding the Rosendahl site. With investments
totaling approximately CHF 6. 5 million,
a new technology center covering almost
3,000 square meters has been opened.
The center of excellence will have group-wide responsibility for the development
of mortar-based installation products.
These products are used for floors, tiles
and walls in the rapidly-growing interior
finishing sector. In addition, a
new local center of excellence for
specialty mortars has been estab-
lished. This will focus on grouts
and concrete repair mortars for applica-
tion in bridge-building and the construc-
tion of wind farms, for example.
The expanded site also contains an
industrial building for applications engineering and seminar rooms for customer product and application training.
Around 30 staff will work in the new
technology center.
