In Mexico and Central America, Axalta Coating Systems has in- troduced the new Procor HP line
of protective coatings for architectural and industrial applications. The
Procor HP family of high solids products are designed to deliver superior
performance and provide long term
protection for materials exposed to
harsh environments.
The new products include Procor
HP Red label and Procor HS Blue label
coatings. Procor HP Red label coatings
includes zinc, epoxy and polyurethane-rich technologies in a variety of packaging formats. The Procor HS Blue label
line, which adds high-performance features to the current Procor product
range, can be used on diverse applications and provides both superior protection and a great finish. Procor HS
Blue label is available in 16-liter buckets to facilitate mixing and optimize application time.
“We’re excited to offer our industrial and architectural customers the new
Procor HP line of coatings,” said Daniel
Gonzalez Torres, Director, Industrial
and Architectural Segment, Axalta Latin
America. “We look forward to customers
benefiting from using the Procor HP line
to support the growth of their business
and protect their investments as the region’s infrastructure expands.”
Hempel Simplifies Offshore
Asset Maintenance with
New Coating Range
Two new coatings, Hempadur Quattro
XO 17820 and 17870, are being introduced to increase the service life and
reduce on-station maintenance requirements of offshore assets by leading
worldwide coatings supplier Hempel.
The new high-performance pure epoxy
uni-primers combine excellent corrosion
protection with construction flexibility.
Hempadur Quattro XO 17820 / 17870
are part of a series of two-component
epoxy primer coatings which provide ad-
vanced crack resistance using Hempel’s
patented fiber technology. They can be
applied in immersed and non-immersed
areas of any offshore asset, from off-
shore platforms and drilling rigs through
to support vessels.
In line with the latest environmental regulations, the products are fully
compliant with the IMO Performance
Standard for Protective Coatings (PSPC)
regulations. Their high-volume solids ratio (80%) means that fewer VOCs are released into the atmosphere.
Hempadur Quattro XO 17820/
17870 can be applied to multiple areas
above and below the waterline, including
ballast water and oil cargo tanks, and can
be applied year-round with workability
from - 10˚C/14˚F to 45˚C/113˚F.
Commenting on the product’s appli-
cation to the offshore industry, Hempel’s
Oil & Gas Segment manager, Simon
Daly, said, “For asset owners, the key
benefits of Hempadur Quattro XO are
that fewer variations of protective coat-
ing are required across the structure; life-
cycle maintenance is greatly simplified
and downtime for re-coating is signifi-
cantly reduced, saving time and money.
For yards and coatings applicators, the
fact that the product is quick drying
and can be applied even during winter
months, means that project schedules can
be maintained without painting activities
being interrupted.”
Hempel’s pure epoxy uni-primers
can be reinforced with its patented fi-
bre technology to prevent cracking,
improve mechanical properties, guard
against impact damage during inspec-
tions; and to assist with coating cov-
erage on complex areas. Hempel’s
Hempadur Quattro XO range has
received wide industry endorsement
through its application to commercial
ships, and has been type approved by
all major classification societies includ-
ing Lloyd’s Register, DNV GL and ABS.
Axalta Coating Systems
Introduces Alesta Lync Dry-
on-Dry System
Axalta Coating Systems has introduced
Alesta Lync, an innovative Dry-on-Dry
(DOD) powder coating application system. Alesta Lync is a cost effective solution to the energy consuming process
of conventional two layer systems that
require two separate bake cycles. It is
also engineered to provide a significant
performance improvement compared to
single layer systems.
With its unique topcoat and primer
combination, Alesta Lync is designed
to provide two paint layers but require
only one cure cycle. As a result, Alesta
Lync reduces process time, paint shop
footprint and capital investment while
increasing productivity. The process is
energy-efficient and has excellent edge
corrosion protection. By contrast, traditional direct to metal monolayer powder
systems often fail to protect edges, as surface tension during the liquid state causes
paint to pull away from sharp edges.
Conventional two-layers systems require
an intermediate bake step between primer
and topcoat.
“Alesta Lync is the result of Axalta
scientists around the world listening to
the needs of our customers and then
working closely with them to develop an
innovative technology that is designed
to improve their business,” said Michael
Cash, Axalta Senior Vice and President
and President, Industrial Coatings. “I
couldn’t be more excited about this new
system, and I look forward to seeing the
creative ways our customers will take
advantage of its value.” Alesta Lync has
been engineered initially for ACE segment coaters, but also is suitable for
many other general industrial applications. Coaters using direct to metal systems today can get better edge coverage
and corrosion resistance with Alesta
Lync without having to add an additional oven to gel cure a primer. CW
