Cleared for takeoff: GMR Safety, a company that specializes in industrial safety products for the material handling industry, has introduced Clear To Go SG. This safety device helps protect loading dock doors from damage during staging and loading operations.

The unit uses a high-visibility barrier with a pivot that is designed to sustain impact. In the case of an accident, the barrier, positioned in front of the dock door, is struck before the door can be hit. Upon impact, the barrier separates safely from the pivot and an audible alarm is triggered, alerting employees to the impending risk. TOTALFreightPay processes paper and electronic invoices within 24 hours, at which point data is available online to authorized shippers and carriers. The system relies on customizable table- and rules-driven architecture to ensure a thorough and accurate auditing process. It also equips shippers with Windows-based tools and an extensive data warehouse to support customized and ad hoc transportation/financial reporting.

Developed by freight payment experts and Internet software engineers, TOTALFreightPay immediately converts paper invoices into images that flow through the payment cycle. Information is captured from these electronic images as well as electronic data interchange (EDI) invoices, and checked for duplications before undergoing a rigorous auditing process. Once adjusted or approved, invoices are aged according to client-specified and carrier-specific payment terms, and payment is released to carriers as scheduled. Cool idea: Rite-Hite Corp. introduces the AirLine Fabric Air Tunnel, a device that cost-effectively cools people who work in picking, sorting, and/or light assembly environments. The result is greater employee comfort, which contributes to improved productivity.

The AirLine consists of a continu-ous-duty blower and a fabric air tunnel made from a fire-retardant polyester weave. Spot-On Air Outlets, which measure two inches in diameter and are spaced at 15-inch intervals, are directed at the 5 o’clock and 7 o’clock positions for the most effective distribution of air.

The AirLine fits where there isn’t room for larger ceiling fans. It offers an alternative to traditional floor- and wall-mounted fans since it delivers balanced ambient airflow where it’s needed most. It also consumes less electricity than most floor- and wall-mounted fans used to cool similar spaces. In addition, the AirLine eliminates airflow obstructions and noise issues commonly associated with traditional fans. Since the unit is mounted above the floor, it eliminates clutter and tripping hazards for improved safety.

The air tunnel is available in lengths of up to 80 feet, in 10-foot increments. Designed for easy installation, the AirLine can be mounted to ceilings or decks, columns, structural walls, or floor-mounted posts. Mounting hardware is shipped with the unit.
