Single-step process: Numina Group releases One Step Plus. This advancement for
print-and-apply labeling technology automates the application of a packing slip (full 8. 5
by 11 inches) and shipping label in a single step for shipping and manifesting UPS,
USPS, and FedEx shipments. The system automatically prints, folds, and tucks the full
packing sheet securely under the removable shipping label in a real-time inline process.
The One Step Plus provides complete automation and verification of the pack
sheet, shipping label, and in-line manifesting. It eliminates the plastic shipping pouch,
provides better security for the packing sheet, reduces manual labor, and cuts 35 to
50 seconds from every shipment. (Numina Group, www.numinagroup.com)

Damage control: Ivy Associates Ltd. unveils a
logistics-focused damage detection product that
visually indicates water presence within railcars,
trailers, or intermodal containers. The new Ivy
Water Tattle Tale is designed primarily for use in
forest products and roll-paper transport.
Research has shown that roll damage from
water entry can be hidden under the roll’s protective outer wrap material and is often visually
hard to detect based on low light levels inside the
conveyance equipment. Companies often do not
have the staffs and resources to properly inspect
suspect wet rolls. And on average, 25 percent of
water-related roll damage is not found until after
rolls are placed into inventory, which makes filing
a damage claim more time-consuming and costly for both the receiver and shipper.
The Ivy Water Tattle Tale helps to solve these
problems. The device, which is activated only
by the presence of water, visually alerts
receivers of roll-paper shipments that water-related damage might have occurred during
transport. The Ivy Water Tattle Tale product can
detect potential water damage even if the
water has evaporated before the off-loading
commences at the receiver’s facility, and provides irreversible, visual documentation. (Ivy

Chock another one up:
Kelley’s Manual Surface
Chock provides loading
docks with a cost-effective, versatile wheel-restraint solution. The
chock is capable of
engaging and restraining a wide range of trailers,
including trucks with lift gates, damaged rear
impact guards, or different axle configurations.
Easy installation, simple operation, and minimal
maintenance provide a lower lifetime cost of
ownership than many other wheel-restraint systems, according to the manufacturer.
The Manual Surface Chock’s design provides
up to 32,000 pounds of restraining force. Its
ergonomic handle allows for easy engagement
of the restraining arm, and the foot pedal
releases the arm away from the wheel, eliminating chock pinch. Standard LED interior and
exterior lights and an exterior audible alarm
enable effective communication between dock
employees, yard jockeys, and truck drivers.
Proximity and photo-cell sensors allow the
restraint to be interlocked and sequenced with
other dock equipment, providing ease of operation and enhanced safety.
The Manual Surface Chock’s galvanized finish and rugged construction are designed for
extreme weather conditions. (The Kelley Co.,
