Outsourced critical inventory management: FedEx SupplyChain,
a subsidiary of FedEx Corp., has rolled out new and expanded visibility and control features as well as new stocking locations to support worldwide FedEx Critical Inventory Logistics customers.
FedEx has added more than 100 new stocking locations worldwide to the FedEx Critical Inventory Logistics network—with the
largest network expansions taking place within India and Mexico.
In addition, the new FedEx Critical Inventory Logistics global
event management solution establishes a plan and “milestones”
for each critical order, which helps to keep the delivery on track
and on time. For instance, as soon as an order is picked up, the
pickup scan data are instantly transmitted to the global command-and-control center to indicate that a milestone has been cleared.
If a scan is scheduled but not cleared as planned, follow-up actions
are triggered to proactively bring the order back on course.
In addition to event management, more customers will have
access to trained staff members, who are on duty around-the-clock, through the FedEx Critical Inventory Logistics global com-mand-and-control team.
The FedEx Critical Inventory Logistics technology enhancements also include added ways for customers to place orders. In
addition to existing order placement methods—electronic data
interchange (EDI), phone, and e-mail—customers now have the
option of placing orders on the Web by uploading a file or by
using the FedEx Critical Inventory Logistics global customer Web
portal. (FedEx Supply Chain, www.fedex.com/us/supply-chain/ index.html)

Voice technology solution: Information technology company
CTG has released a new version of its voice technology solution,
CTGTalk 4.0. This release allows the solution to be managed
using smart phones, tablets, mobile devices, and/or desktop
computers. This device flexibility allows fast problem resolution,
improves productivity, and reduces costs associated with management of the devices, according to CTG.
With the newly released CTGTalk 4.0, users can now centrally
store their preferences. This allows workers to use any CTGTalk-enabled device in the facility regardless of device manufacturer.
CTGTalk uses a specialized voice technology called active environment adaptation, which automatically adapts to different
environmental noise levels. (CTG, www.ctgtalk.com)
