Cargo delay alerts: Software-as-a-service provider CargoSmart Ltd. has created VisibilitySmart, a new visibility solution that alerts shippers and logistics service providers to ocean cargo delays.

The solution provides shippers with early notifications of potential hold-ups. It also offers a monthly scorecard for measuring and tracking carriers’ on-time performance and reasons for delays.

VisibilitySmart monitors and analyzes live vessel data through the Automated Identification System (AIS), sailing schedules, historical route patterns, and shipment plans to anticipate delays. It offers coverage of 21 carriers, 3,500 vessels, and 800 ports.

The new solution monitors three types of delays: skipped ports of call, missed trans-shipments, and late arrivals. The system provides a daily e-mail with shipment delay summaries. (CargoSmart, http://visibility.cargosmart.com)

Packet fulfillment system: PSI Engineering has introduced the MVP Packet Fulfillment solution, an automated system for creating packets of documents and/or product samples and applying them to a box or inserting them inside a case.

The packets can hold a wide range of documents, including ship labels, invoices, rebate offers and coupons, marketing literature, material data sheets, DVDs, and pack slips. The packets are automatically applied on the top or side of closed cases or inserted into open cases.

The MVP Packet Fulfillment system combines features of two other PSI solutions, the PSILC-Infeeder and AutoSlip. According to PSI Engineering, the new solution is especially well suited for companies in the third-party logistics, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, and e-commerce industries. Label printer: The PEARLabel 270 and PEARLabel 360 label printers from K-Sun can provide labeling or marking for hundreds of applications, including inventory management, asset management, tool storage, racks, bins, and forklifts.

The printers can print on many specialty supplies, such as heat shrink tube, wire wrap, cable flag, adhesive tape, iron-on fabric, and magnetic, reflective, and photoluminescent materials. They can also print bar codes, including QR and Data Matrix.

The printers, which use thermal transfer printing technology, have a lifetime warranty. They come with a mobile printing app, wide formats, and K-Sun’s MaxiLabel software. They use K-Sun LabelShop cartridges, which are compatible with all other K-Sun printers.

PEARLabel printers come with the MaxiLabel Pro Version 4.0 Labeling Software for Windows 7 and MaxiLabel Lite for Mac. They also work with the “K-Sun Label” app for iPhone and iPad, available free from the App Store. MaxiLabel Pro Version 4.0 has 15 bar-code formats, including QR and DataMatrix. The software provides templates, wizards, and symbols. It can also import graphics and Excel/Word data.

The PEARLabel 360 prints 360 dots per inch (dpi) on 126 different industrial heat shrink tube, wire wrap, and special labeling materials from 1/6 inch ( 4 mm) to 1. 5 inches ( 36 mm). The PEARLabel 360 also has a half-cut function for easy liner removal as well as the PeelGuard tape trimmer, which rounds label corners, making them adhere and look better.

The PEARLabel 270 prints 270 dpi on 105 different industrial heat-shrink tube, wire wrap, and special labeling supplies from 1/6 inch ( 4 mm) to 1 inch ( 24 mm). (K-Sun, www.ksun.com) ;
