LTL pricing white paper: Transportation and logistics advisory firm CarrierDirect has released its latest white paper, “The
New Dimension of LTL Pricing,” which discusses dimensioning
technology relative to its revenue impact on the industry and
accuracy of freight classification for less-than-truckload (LTL)
carriers, third-party logistics service providers, and shippers.
In the white paper, CarrierDirect discusses dimensioning
technology, specifically cases for use, benefits to the supply
chain, and what the future may bring. Delivering an analysis of
the overall scope of dimensioners, this document outlines how
dimensional data can help users identify areas of true compatibility, or lack thereof, between carriers and shippers; ease profit
pinch points; and foster real partnerships.
In addition, CarrierDirect explains how dimensioners will ultimately result in greater data accuracy, transparency, and profitability for all parties due to the technology’s ability to combine
precise data on weight, height, width, and depth via laser or
photographs and annex this detail to the customer freight bill.

Hydraulic forklift scale: Keytroller has designed its Precise
Hi-Accuracy Forklift Scale to offer weighing precision that’s close
to that offered by carriage or fork load-cell scales, but at half
the cost. In addition, this forklift scale is water-resistant and
designed to withstand tough, abusive applications.
The Precise Hi-Accuracy Forklift Scale is equipped with a
4.3-inch color LCD touchscreen and solenoid-operated bypass
module, enabling it to
achieve a high accuracy reading.
When an operator is
ready to weigh a load,
he raises the load to
the level of the magnetic sensor, which
beeps, alerting him to
start the weighing process. When the weighing process begins, a horizontal line on the
display gives the operator a reference as to the load’s full capacity percentage for the forklift. When a load picked is above the
preprogrammed full-capacity percentage threshold, the unit will
warn the operator. If the overload continues, an external siren
alarm will sound, and the device will automatically store the time
and date in the memory log.
Keytroller offers a tabletop demonstration kit that allows
companies to evaluate the quality, design, features, and capabilities of the Precise Hi-Accuracy Forklift Scale. (Keytroller, www.

Checkweigher scale: A&D Inspection has introduced its
newest checkweigher, the AD-4961-600-1224. This new checkweigher features a smaller footprint, making the machine easier
to integrate into an existing manufacturing process. In addition,
the increased product throughput of up to 400 pieces per minute (PPM) makes it that much more efficient. Users will have the
capability to increase quality and significantly reduce production
costs by safeguarding against underweight and overweight
packages.
The AD-4961-600-1224 features a newly designed digital load
cell and an ultra-high-speed processing module, allowing it to
deliver precision weighing and measurement at 0.08 g; standard digital inputs and outputs to provide high degrees of user
flexibility; a high-visibility touch-panel color LCD screen with a
user-friendly interface, including an audio guidance support function; easy upload of product images, to make product identification highly efficient; the ability to reach speeds of up to 400 PPM;
enhanced protection from dust and water to IP65 standards; a
modular design, which allows for quick installation or relocation
and simple maintenance; and dual-channel airjet rejectors, allowing a customer to sort overweight and underweight products.
In all, the checkweigher has four main units, including an
infeed conveyor, a weighing conveyer, a control unit, and a base
unit for a total system length of just 606 millimeters, or 24 inches. Users do not need to wait for a service engineer to respond
to a system shutdown, as they are able to replace any unresponsive modules and significantly reduce potential downtime. (A&D

Three-dimensional camera: Numina Group has introduced
its latest print-fold-insert (PFI) technology to help eliminate bottlenecks in the pack and ship process, reduce labor, and improve
order fulfillment accuracy. The PFI now incorporates 3-D camera
inspection and measurement technology. The three-dimensional
camera performs carton content inspection to determine dimensional height and internal carton fill-rate measurement prior to
document insertion. The new measurement technology was
designed to improve dimensional shipment accuracy by simultaneously performing order inspection and dimensional shipment
validation, thereby reducing costs and ensuring that the correct
documentation is included with each shipment.
PFI installed in new or existing conveyor lines auto prints and
inserts from one to six 8.5- by 11-inch folded packing documents
at up to 12 to 13 cartons per minute (CPM). The system can manage a mix of carton heights from 30 inches down to four inches.
Multiple PFIs can be implemented in a series to fully automate
high-volume 30+ CPM pack and ship solutions for omnichannel,
e-commerce, and business-to-business high-volume pack and
ship applications. (Numina Group, www.numinagroup.com)
