3PL RFID technology: Seldat Technology Services (STS) has
introduced a radio-frequency identification (RFID) solution for
third-party logistics (3PL) warehouse management.
The company analyzed the traditional challenges associated
with introducing RFID automation to 3PL warehouses, including
incompatible hardware and software within existing operations,
operational issues across all RFID products from different vendors, and interference from other tracking systems. Based on
those findings, it then developed an RFID solution for the 3PL
process that eliminates the need to manage the requirements of
different vendors, customers, and solutions providers. Seldat’s
new offering features RFID readers, scanners, gateways, and
other equipment entirely developed by the company; middle-ware preconfigured and fully integrated with WMS360, STS’s
warehouse management system; hardware built for complex
high-volume 3PL processes and environments; and hardware
tools that can be retrofitted to existing equipment, including
forklifts, conveyor belts, and racking systems.
According to the company, its RFID solution offers automated
data capture and analysis in real time, accurate visibility and
traceability within and beyond the warehouse, real-time location
and inventory management, and 45- to 55-percent cost savings
compared with other RFID implementation options in the market.

Charging system: Solar technology provider “Go Power!” has
paired its solar charging system
with a new component to make
dead liftgates and pallet jack batteries a thing of the past.
The Dual Charging System (DCS)
was engineered for charging both
liftgate and pallet jack batteries.
The company’s Auto Switching
Power Control unit component allows the DCS to automatically
switch from charging pallet jacks to liftgates, depending on
what is plugged into the unit. The DCS not only saves time but
also reduces fuel costs by making deliveries more efficient, the
company says.
The DCS uses solar power to solve common battery problems
truck operators face daily. By topping off liftgate and pallet jack
batteries with solar power, this solution extends the life of the
batteries from months to years and eliminates the need for idling
while operating a liftgate, saving up to $40 per day in fuel costs,
the company says.
The DCS is easy to install with minimal modifications required
to the truck or trailer. Only basic tools are needed to secure the
solar panels and to wire them into the truck’s electrical system,
the company says.
The kit also features the company’s low-profile solar modules.
These solar panels are 1/8-inch thick and are 82 percent lighter
in weight than traditional panels, according to the manufacturer. The modular panel design also allows for easy expansion if
required for service routes with limited daylight locations. The
Go Power panels deliver continuous battery charging for both the
liftgate and the pallet jack whether the vehicle is on the road or
parked. With a standard five-year warranty, the DCS is scheduled

Battery charging solution: Delta-Q Technologies, a provider of battery charging solutions for electric drive vehicles and
machines, has expanded its capabilities to support the Society
of Automotive Engineers (SAE) J1939 standards in its battery
charging solutions. Delta-Q now offers two controller area network (CAN) bus communication protocols: CANopen and J1939.
J1939 is the preferred CAN standard for in-vehicle networks
for trucks and buses in industries such as material handling, electric automobiles, construction, and outdoor power equipment.
With J1939 CAN protocol capabilities on Delta-Q’s chargers, the
company can support machines approved for these uses.
The expansion to J1939 provides OEMs (original equipment
manufacturers) with the ability to integrate the battery charger’s
data into a vehicle system, which includes telematic applications,
in a simple and functional manner. According to the company,
this adds to Delta-Q’s full CAN bus capabilities for charge control
and/or charge monitoring for a more integrated lead acid or lithium system. It also provides OEMs with the flexibility to update
battery algorithm and charger software through CAN programs
to ensure quality in a vehicle’s battery charge or provide full
