Ergonomic material handling equipment supplier Southworth International
Group will acquire Marco Group AB, a Swedish manufacturer of related
lifting and positioning technologies, the companies said last month.
The move expands Falmouth, Maine-based Southworth’s presence in
the European and Asian markets and supplements its manufacturing
capabilities in China, Southworth President Brian McNamara said in a
statement.
Working from its base in Ängelholm, Sweden, Marco specializes in delivering hydraulic lifting tables to customers in Europe. It also has operations
in Brazil, India, and China.
Southworth’s product line includes ergonomic work-positioning tables,
portable lifts, container tilters, and pallet-handling equipment, manufactured principally in Manila, Ark. The company has subsidiary offices in
Mexico and China.
Elsewhere, supply chain software firm Descartes Systems Group Inc.
acquired Oz Development Inc. of Westborough, Mass., for $29.5 million
in a move to strengthen its e-commerce fulfillment capabilities and attract
a new cadre of small-business customers. Oz provides application-integra-tion solutions that help small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) automate their logistics and supply chain processes.
