Solar panel solution: Thermo King’s new
ThermoLite solar panel solution is engineered
to provide an alternative power source to
refrigerated and dry fleets. The solar panels
enable Thermo King’s Web-enabled temperature management system, TracKing, and
other telematics systems to monitor assets
over long periods of time, even when the
transport refrigeration unit is off, while also
safeguarding the health of the battery, the
company says.
ThermoLite’s charge controller technology
is designed to improve the charging from the
solar array to the battery bank; to eliminate
concerns regarding electrical power surges,
reverse polarity (shock hazard), overcharging,
and high-voltage jump starting; and to withstand inclement weather conditions.
The ThermoLite solar panel solution
includes three models: ThermoLite 26W,
36W, and 100-300W. (Thermo King, www.

Conveyor rollers and
mounts: Creform Corp.,
a manufacturer of adaptive material handling
systems, has introduced a new low-profile version of its wide
Placon gravity rollers and conveyor mounts.
According to the company, the Low-Profile
Placon rollers are 80 percent of the height
of the standard wide Placon conveyor rollers.
The new rollers’ rail base is 32 mm ( 1. 26
inches) to the top of the roller compared with
40 mm ( 1. 58 inches) for the standard variety.
The new rollers are designed to minimize
the vertical space needed for conveyors and
to allow the user to fit more lanes in a given
height or to squeeze rollers into a tight space.
The standard new system incorporates 18
mm (0.71 inch) diameter rollers with a 19
mm (0.74 inch) diameter center to center,
and can be configured up to three meters
( 9. 8 feet) long; however, other roller spacing
is available upon request.
Creform Corp. says the Placon precision
rollers spin freely and quietly and provide
stability, extra support, and smooth flow
for handling totes with nonsmooth or soft
bottoms and open cell designs as well as
unpackaged parts. Two versions are available:
black plastic rollers (PWL2 series) or stainless
covered rollers (KWL2 series). The rollers are
designed for both standard and electrostatic
discharge (ESD) applications.
Applications for the rollers and mounts
include factories and warehouses that need
a high-performance gravity roller solution.

No-freeze LTL service: A. Duie Pyle has expanded its Protect From Freeze (PFF) service in preparation for this winter season. Pyle’s PFF service allows customers who
ship water-based products to transport less-than-truckload (LTL) shipments with full
protection from freezing temperatures.
The service consists of heated service centers and heated/insulated trailers for line
haul, pickup, and delivery operations, providing 24/7 protection. These initiatives
and investments are supported by temperature-sensitive load planning and routing
technology. (A. Duie Pyle, www.aduiepyle.com)
