Rack safety strap:
Adrian’s Safety Solutions
says its pallet rack strap
offers employers an affordable option for protecting
employees and goods as
well as complying with longitudinal flue space requirements (National Fire Protection
Association, NFPA code 230). The Rack Safety Strap is designed
to prevent injury and product loss by acting as a barrier to keep
large, palletized, or shrink-wrapped items from pushing through
into the flue space or falling into a work area. It does not require
any tools or retrofitting and installs in seconds, offering an
affordable alternative to traditional netting and metal mesh, the
manufacturer says.
Adrian’s Rack Safety Straps are made from two-inch premium
cargo webbing and feature hardware that can be attached to
the existing pallet rack upright quickly. The company’s stan-dard-sized safety straps fit 8-, 9-, 10-, 12-, and 13-foot bays.
Custom sizes are also available. (Adrian’s Safety Solutions, www.

Mobile racking system: Storage solutions provider
Flexspace/Storage America has introduced the Poweracks industrial mobile racking system. The Poweracks system, which
consists of a racking structure installed on a powered moving
base, replaces multiple conventional static aisles with one moving aisle. The system provides direct access to inventory while
increasing storage density, the company says.
The Poweracks control system can be customized to be fully or
semiautomated and is engineered for use in warehouses, distribution centers, and manufacturing facilities. (Flexspace/Storage

Adjustable-wheelbase forklifts: Toyota Forklifts has expanded
its THD (Toyota Heavy Duty) product line with the addition of
an adjustable-wheelbase forklift with the capacity to lift from
15,000 to 80,000 pounds.
The newest cushion-tire forklift is small enough to navigate
tight spaces and strong enough to lift up to 80,000 pounds
when fully extended, allowing users to lift large, bulky, and
oddly shaped loads like machinery with confidence, the company
says. The vehicle also features a
stacked plate counterweight and
low-profile design, enabling it to
go into locations that conventional forklifts cannot access, the
manufacturer adds.
Along with a horizontally adjustable wheelbase, the new
heavy-duty model features rigger boom attachments for additional load support, a two-speed hydrostatic transmission, and
a seven-inch color LCD multifunction touchscreen to increase
productivity, efficiency, and convenience. Other features include
a quick-change fork system, an onboard estimated-capacity
calculator, engine fault code diagnostics and troubleshooting
guides, dual-fuel engines, and electronically activated hydraulic
controls. (Toyota Forklifts, www.toyotaforklift.com)
Warehouse activity tracker: Newcastle Systems, a provider
of mobile-powered workplace solutions, has introduced the
MotionMeter app, a real-time activity tracker designed to quickly
and accurately perform time studies within the warehouse in
order to identify waste.
The app can be deployed in minutes and generates a comprehensive overview, known as the “Savings Report,” which can
be exported as a PDF and e-mailed directly to the app’s user or
others in the organization. Once waste is identified, warehouse
managers can implement specific plans and technology solutions
to reduce waste and improve productivity, setting them on a path
to a “best in class” operation.
To accommodate a wide variety of uses, MotionMeter includes
several personalization features, including names of processes and tasks, labor rate, and number of employees. Free to
download, MotionMeter is currently available for Android and
iOS mobile devices and can be found on the App Store and
GooglePlay. (Newcastle Systems Inc., www.newcastlesys.com)
Storage cabinets for flammable
liquids: Jamco Products, a designer and manufacturer of heavy-duty
steel material handling carts, storage
containers, and safety cabinets, has
introduced its line of safety flammable cabinets. These cabinets are
designed to safely store and protect
flammable liquids. The cabinets are
now certified to the new FM (Factory
Mutual) Approvals Class 6050 - storage cabinets for ignitable
(flammable) liquids standard. In addition, these cabinets meet
OSHA and NFPA code 30 standards.
Jamco safety flammable cabinets feature all-welded dou-ble-wall 18-gauge construction with 1.5-inch insulating air space.
Doors are double-walled 14-gauge outside and 18-gauge inside.

Weather forecasting analytics: FourKites, a supply chain visibility and predictive analytics platform, has unveiled Predictive
Weather Intelligence, a real-time severe-weather risk assessment
offering that enables shippers and third-party logistics service
providers to plan around disruptive weather events before they
impact freight in transit.
Powered by weather forecast data that’s updated every 15
minutes, FourKites Predictive Weather Intelligence traces the
paths of shipments in transit, diagnosing the impact of real-time
and forecast weather conditions along each shipment’s route.
Severe weather conditions with the potential to materially affect
routes and delivery times are proactively communicated to supply
chain execution teams along with recommendations for corrective actions.
Real-time Doppler conditions, updated every six minutes,
enable supply chain execution teams to plan with a broader geographic view by tracking major weather systems moving across
North America. The interactive Doppler overlay lets supply chain
managers zoom into impacted areas to see the precise locations
experiencing the brunt of severe weather. With that granular
view, the teams can see which routes to avoid and anticipate
which regions of the country will experience the most disruptive
weather events. (FourKites, www.fourkites.com)
