WHILE MANY AMERICAN WORKERS SHELTERED IN
place this spring, the nation’s logistics and supply chain
community shifted into overdrive. As the coronavirus
continued its lethal march across the land, truckers logged
long hours on the road to deliver critical supplies, often at
great personal risk. Warehouse workers dealt with a surg-
ing tide of online orders, tech developers rushed to roll out
crisis-related logistics support tools, and manufacturers
pivoted from making industrial equipment to making hand
sanitizer, face shields, and ventilators. And that was just the
half of it. Countless others stepped up to donate everything
from transportation and warehouse capacity to fuel and
food to personal protective equipment for workers on the
front lines.
In this special section, we recognize these “Heroes ofthe Supply Chain”—companies and individuals who havegone the extra mile in these unprecedented times. Insideheartfelt thanks.
