Counterbalanced forklifts: Hyundai Forklift
has introduced two new series of electric,
counterbalance forklift trucks: the BC-9 series
4-wheel electric counterbalance forklifts and
the BT- 9 series 3-wheel electric counterbalance forklifts. Both the BC-9 cushion tire
forklifts and the pneumatic tire BT- 9 forklifts
are ideal for applications such as warehouses,
bottling plants, distribution centers, and manufacturing facilities, according to Hyundai.
There are four models in the BC-9 series:
the 20, 25, 30, and 32. The four models
have various mast heights and designs, and
offer load capacities of 4,000 pounds, 5,000
pounds, 6,000 pounds, and 6,400 pounds,
respectively. The BC-9 series features a maximum travel speed (unloaded) of 11 miles per
hour and a maximum gradeability (loaded) of
34 percent, 20 percent, 18 percent, and 17
percent, respectively.
The BT- 9 series 15/18/20 has three models
with various mast heights and designs, and
offers load capacities of 3,000 pounds, 3,500
pounds, and 4,000 pounds, respectively. All
three models were designed for a compact
aisle width and turning radius. The BT- 9 series
features a maximum travel speed (unloaded)
of 10. 6 miles per hour and a max gradeability
(loaded) of 29. 5 percent, 27. 5 percent, and
24. 5 percent, respectively.
Both series of forklifts feature an enclosed
drive and pump motor with AC technology,
which provides power, extended maintenance intervals, and durability. The brushless
AC motors provide improved efficiency and
reduced maintenance costs.
All of the new trucks have advanced safety
features, including an optimized lift cylinder
arrangement, which gives operators wider
visibility on all sides, as well as a panoramic
mirror that expands the driver’s view during
operation. A strong overhead guard protects
operators from falling objects above. When
forks are being lowered, a down-control
valve maintains a controlled speed, and the
down-safety valve prevents forks from dropping down in case of sudden damage to the
hydraulic line. An operator presence sensing
system (OPSS) makes most drive movements,
including lift lock, tilt lock, and drive lock,
impossible when an operator is not in the
seat. The forklifts also possess LED combination lights, halogen headlights, and rear
reflectors.
Both series were designed to maximize
operator comfort. They feature a wide operator cabin with an optimized pedal position, a
large nonslip entrance step, and an adjustable
full-suspension seat. (Hyundai Forklift, www.
