Smart intermodal container: Unit45, a manufacturer of 45-foot intermodal containers, has partnered with Globe Tracker International, a specialist in global supply
chain visibility, to offer the first commercial “smart” refrigerated container. The
system will combine data from the refrigeration unit with data collected from wireless sensors reporting condition and security variables from both inside and outside
the container. The compilation of this data offers a picture of what is happening
to cargo in transit, and reduces risk and loss across the intermodal space. (Globe

Bar-code terminal: Denso ADC has expanded its BHT-1300 Series of wireless and batch
1-D and 2-D handheld bar-code terminals
with the BHT-1300-CE, which features the
Windows Embedded Compact 7 operating
system.
The BHT-1300-CE is a compact, lightweight
rugged device that is backed by a three-year warranty. The terminals are equipped
with Denso’s Advanced Scan Plus CCD and
area-imaging technology, which enable faster
scanning than lasers, according to the manufacturer.
Preinstalled software includes a keyboard
interface application, wireless setting tool,
application launcher, and backup tool.
Advanced Wi-Fi technology and the latest
network encryption protocols ensure fast,
reliable, and secure data transmission, the
