Automated handling technologies:
Intralogistics specialist Swisslog will unveil several new picking technologies at the upcoming
Modex conference in April. For starters, the
company will introduce Automated Item Pick
(AIP), its solution for state-of-the-art light-goods handling. The AIP is a fully automated picking station that teams humans with
robots, enabling direct cooperation between
man and machine, with no safety fence
required. The core component of this solution is Kuka’s highly sensitive LBR iiwa lightweight robot. This new AIP complements the
AutoStore and other light-goods systems from
Swisslog and delivers accelerated and improved
picking performance.
The company has also developed a new shuttle technology that will be on display at Modex.
The new technology offers performance, flexibility, and reliability to help retail, pharmaceutical, and food and beverage industries respond
to challenges. Representing the latest generation of shuttle systems, this technology is a
natural part of a smart logistics solution that
relies on the intelligent autonomy of material

carousel design requires fewer parts
