Smart antennas: View Technologies, a joint
venture between Stanley Black & Decker Inc.
and RF Controls, has announced commercial
availability of the Echo 300 and Echo 302 smart
antennas for capturing real-time data for items
incorporating Rain RFID (passive UHF) tags in
retail, manufacturing, and logistics.
The Echo 300 and Echo 302 smart antennas feature a high-performing reader capable
of both Power over Ethernet (POE+) and AC
power, enabling greater installation flexibility and cost-effectiveness with improved RFID
performance. The Echo 300 is designed for
wide-area, open, and high-ceiling environments, while the Echo 302 is designed for
environments with lower ceilings.
With the POE+ capability, the Echo smart
antennas can be installed with only a single
cable for both power and network per antenna. This flexibility can reduce the cost and complexity of installations as well as offer network
administrators more control over the devices.
Bidirectional, electronically steerable phased
arrays that can achieve up to a 150-foot operating range with standard passive UHF RFID
tags, the Echo smart antennas can locate tags
with high levels of accuracy—three feet or better in ideal environments—with either a single
or several smart antennas.
The Echo smart antennas use the inView
Software Platform, built to enable third-party
applications to run more efficiently and accurately. Through standard interfaces, the inView
Platform offers insightful location-based data to
locate, track, and act on real-time data from the
billions of items incorporating Rain RFID tags
in retail, manufacturing, and logistics. (View

Conveyor wear strips: FB Chain has introduced two-color polyethylene wear strips for
conveyor applications. The wear strips indicate
when it’s time for their replacement, thereby
promoting safe operation while reducing conveyor downtime due to wear-strip checks.
The company designed two contrasting colored plastics that are layered over each other.
As soon as the base color becomes visible
through the top layer, technicians know that
it’s time to replace the wear strip. This visual
cue acts as a convenient built-in wear indicator.
Technicians do not need to stop the conveyor
to check the degree of wear to the wear strips.
The two-color wear strips for conveyor or
roller chains are available in any length, quantity, size, and RAL (British standard colors), and
in EU and FDA standard polyethylene for the
food and beverage and pharmaceutical industries. (FB Chain, www.fbchain.com)
Hand pallet truck: Crown Equipment Corp. has intro-
duced its PTH 50 Series hand pallet truck with Work Assist
load tray. When configured with the load tray, the PTH
50 can be used with a range of Work Assist accessories.
These tools and storage options can be added to the pal-
let truck to offer ergonomic advantages while optimizing
operator efficiency and application flexibility.
The optional Work Assist load tray is facto-ry-installed on new PTH 50 hand pallet trucks
with 27-inch-wide forks. The foldable 27-by- 21
tray allows operators to position paperwork,
tools, and boxes at a comfortable working height
so they bend over less frequently and maintain a faster pace during stock handling
applications. The load-tray mounting system provides additional mounting points
for many other Work Assist accessories, including a clip pad, storage pocket,
shrink-wrap holder, and cup holder.
The company has also introduced PTH Work Assist storage bins, which can be
purchased as a kit containing two bins and can be easily attached to both new
and existing trucks. They provide operators with quick, convenient storage access,
as well as a place for disposal of debris during operation.
The Crown PTH 50 Series is a durable pallet truck used in a wide variety of
material handling environments, including warehousing, manufacturing, retail,
food processing, and logistics. The heavy-duty pallet truck has an ergonomic
handle design that minimizes operator fatigue, resulting in increased productivity.
The truck’s steer-and-load wheels are engineered with high-quality compounds
and bearings that lower rolling resistance and provide smooth, quiet operation for
long-lasting performance. (Crown Equipment Corp., www.crown.com)
