IT IS WITH GREAT SADNESS THAT AGILE BUSINESS MEDIA
announces the sudden passing on April 3 of Jim Indelicato at age
67. Jim was a co-founder of AGiLE and served as group publisher
of DC VELOCITY and its sister publication, CSCMP’s Supply Chain
Quarterly.
Jim was passionate about the supply chain industry and devoted most of his life to helping make the marketprosper. He sawhis role as helping to bring people together, while building lasting relationships. And hesaw the role of AGiLE Business Media asfostering those relationships, bringing suppliers and users together with informationthat enabled the growth and prosperity of ourindustry.
Jim was a native of Chicago and lived his entire life in the area.A graduate of Northern Illinois University, he began his careerin the newspaper industry before moving to magazine sales. Heworked at Cahners Publishing (later Reed Elsevier) as a sales representative, national sales manager, and then associate publisherof Modern Materials Handling magazine from 1992 until 2002. Heleft Reed Elsevier to co-found AGiLE Business Media in 2002 withhis friends and partners Gary Master, Peter Bradley, and MitchMac Donald.
“I first met Jimmy when I became publisher and editorial
director of Modern Materials Handling and he was a Midwest
sales representative,” Mac Donald says. “It soon became clear that
Jim’s natural talents in developing relationships
would make him one of the most effective media
sales reps I’ve ever worked with. A fellow publisher
once remarked that Jim was so good that if you
gave him 20 minutes, he could talk a herd of cats
off a tuna boat. He was a special talent and an even
more special person.”
Jim had many passions in life.
He was a fan of the University
of Miami Hurricanes football
team, and he could often be
seen at Guaranteed Rate Field
rooting for the Chicago White
Sox. He loved to golf, and he
left his mark (and probably
many stray balls) on courses
around the country. He was a
fan of anything Italian, includ-
ing Frank Sinatra’s music and
the Rat Pack. He was huge dog
lover, and his heart would melt
anytime he saw one.
