New wire screen deck design: Frazier Industrial has introduceda new line of wire screens. The screens are engineered with aninternal flare that allows the screen to tuck into the racking beamsinstead of resting on top.
The challenge with current waterfall-style welded wire deckingis that the wires frequently bend under the weight of the pallets and products stored on them. In addition, because the wiredecking is located right on the edge of the beam, it can be easilysnagged by a forklift, the company says. This can result in thedecking’s being lifted off the beams, compromising the stabilityof the load. On top of that, the damaged decking wires can causeinjury to personnel reaching into the racking. Because the edges ofFrazier’s wire screens are secured inside the beams of the racking, those risks are eliminated.
Offered in three styles—a reverse connector, a standard connector, and a structural pallet support—the wire screens are notwelded to the support member. This allows them to be matchedto the proper type and number of structural supports required tomeet the capacity needs of a given application. (Frazier Industrial,www.frazier.com)
Robotic e-commerce solution:
Berkshire Grey, a robotics and artificial intelligence company specializingin retail, e-commerce, and logisticsfulfillment automation, has introduced its next-generation RoboticStore Replenishment (RSR) solutionfor retail customers. The robotic picking solution automates break-packoperations where eaches, inner packs, and less-than-case quantities are picked and shipped in customer-specified containers tostores where associates re-stock shelves.
Because the RSR enables efficient autonomous picking ofsmaller inventory quantities, the solution is popular with retailersseeking to optimize store inventory levels while ensuring superiorin-stock positions, the company says. The RSR can run for all shiftson demand and can support rapid scaling of operations duringhigh-demand periods.
The solution is integrated into standard distribution processeswith the robotic systems often working side-by-side with manualbreak-pack operations while both are served with inventory froma traditional automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS).
The RSR’s modular design allows retailers to scale the number oforders fulfilled simultaneously into the thousands and the numberof items picked per week into the millions. The types of productsthat are compatible with the RSR include health and beauty items, apparel, electronics, housewares, packaged food, child-care products, and pet-care items.
