Purac launches Puralact to enhance the
performance of coating resins
Purac has launched its new range of Puralact, special grade lactides. Puralact
offer several benefits for enhancement of
coating resins. The main advantage of incorporating Puralact is a significantly reduced resin viscosity. This provides the
opportunity to formulate coatings with
higher solid content, lower VOC and improved ease-of-use. Purac’s new Puralact
is 100% biobased, resulting in coating
resins with a lower carbon footprint.
Puralact has been tested in several
coating formulations. Depending on the
type of coating and its specific use, the
new products enhance coating performance by improving properties, such as
stiffness, adhesion, impact resistance, balance between hardness and flexibility,
chemical resistance, gloss and gloss retention and tuning of drying time, according
to the company. Produced on a large industrial scale by Purac, the new range is
commercially available worldwide.
Clariant offers Hostavin
3300 disp. XP for
waterborne coatings
Clariant recently launched a new high per-
formance UV absorber Hostavin 3330 disp
XP. Unveiled at EuroCoat 2012, Clariant
presents an innovative formulation allow-
ing waterborne coatings to reach the per-
formance of conventional solventborne
systems, according to the company
New Hostavin 3330 disp. XP is the first
high loaded water-based dispersion of a
triazine class UV absorber. Its high stabi-
lization efficiency and formulation features
allow improved performance at optimized
costs for the most demanding waterborne
coatings. Its excellent compatibility and
improved VOC related profile makes it
easy to incorporate and safe to handle.
